Sleepingdog is the homeproject of Chantal Acda. She played for years in several bands and is still playing a lot with Belgian band Chacda. But she thought how nice it would be to sit at home with her dog at her feet and write songs that would only tell her story.A story about a safe place. A place to dream and try to understand things or a place where thinking stops. That's where it all started ... In the beginning she wanted to keep the music for herself but after some Sleepingdog concerts she changed her mind (which happens a lot).D/L:http://www.mediafire.com/?9emt9m5jmbs

And further to the previous entry, one of The Green Man's favourite animals, the Polar Bear, which faces a decidedly uncertain future because of the melting of the polar ice cap, has few friends in the US administration. The US Fish and Wildlife Service, it seems, have been unable to quantify the rate at which the polar cap is melting and, as such, cannot regard this species at vulnerable. All right, I admit they are cute, and this undermines the previous post, but the "head-in-the-sand" approach to global warming by the US administration is both expected and extremely disappointing. Without wishing to be anti-American, you guys are the major contributor to this phenonemon. Some spending on a world issue that was not a war would be extremely welcome. Read more here...
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ one-year-old daughter Suri Cruise could be set for her first big-screen venture. Film producer Ash R Shah, of The Animation Picture Company, is planning to make an animated film about a polar bear at Berlin Zoo, named Knut. And TomKat’s little kitten is has been offered to lend her voice to the character. "I see the heartwarming relationship between Knut and his caretaker Thomas Doerflein at the centre of the movie. Suri (Cruise) could speak the English voice of Knut,” The Sun quoted Shah, as saying. Heiner Klos, curator of the Berlin Zoo, said: "I can confirm that we received the offer and that we are giving it due consideration." Knut has been brought up in the zoo after his mum rejected him at birth in Dec 2006. (ANI)

This week, an American study shows a link between air pollution and heart disease. We will tell you about it. We also will tell about preparations for the International Polar Year. And, we tell about a competition to fight climate change.A new study shows that air pollution may be more of a risk for heart disease than scientists have thought. The research involved more than sixty-five thousand women in the United States.Kristin Miller was the lead writer of the study. She says the study showed that disease risk was linked not just to which city a woman lived in, but also where in a city. The study found that estimates of the effects of air pollution were often larger within cities than between cities. Yet averages between cities have served as the main measure of the long-term effects of pollutants. The findings lead some experts to suggest that current pollution limits may not be strong enough. The research team examined rates of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular events in wo

Washington (ToGW) - Two-thirds of the world's current polar bear population could be gone by 2050 if predictions of melting sea ice hold true, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.Polar bears could become extinct even sooner than predicted because sea ice has been melting faster than expected, the USGS said in a report aimed at determining whether the arctic bear should be classified as a threatened species."Projected changes in future sea ice conditions, if realized, will result in loss of approximately two-thirds of the world's current polar bear population by the mid 21st century," the report's executive summary said."Because the observed trajectory of Arctic sea ice decline appears to be underestimated by currently available models, this assessment of future polar bear status may be conservative."The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering putting polar bears under the protection of the Endangered Species Act.Via :: Reuters

He's no longer that cute little fuzzball that could fit in your hands. He's a BIG fuzzball that weighs nearly a 100lbs and is strong enough to injure someone while playing. Knut also recently received his one millionth visitor. The cub that became Berlin Zoo's star attraction after being rejected by his mother is growing up fast. Keeper Thomas Doerflein, who has been hand-rearing Knut, believes the carefree days of tumbling around with him in his den could soon be over. At a hefty 92lb, Knut is simply too powerful to play with. "He now sometimes has temper tantrums when he's hungry or when he wants something and doesn't get it," Mr Doerflein said. "Then he gives me a really good bite. He is, after all, a predator." The sad part is, who will miss the playing around more, Knut or his caretaker? I now present to you...The History Of Knut Technorati tags: Knut, Polar Bear, Berlin Zoo, Bear Cub
Scientific American reports that the US Fish and Wildlife Service has issued an edict that scientist are prohibited from making any public comment about the plight that Polar Bears find themselves in. It seems that if you want to get public funding from the Bush Administration to attend a conference you must agree that polar bears, the melting polar ice cap and global warming will not be discussed. H. Dale Hall, director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, defended the policy laid out in the memos, saying it was meant to keep scientists from straying from a set agenda at meetings in countries like Russia, Norway and Canada and you can understand why. Obviously none of those three countries will notice the collapse of the polar ice shelf if noone mentions it. To take one example, on a discussion on "human and polar bear interface." it was forbidden to discuss the receding Arctic sea ice where polar bears live because it had no relevance to the topic. According to Hall, it w
