Gregory Clarke, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, checked in to a federal penitentiary in Atlanta around 8 a.m. this morning to begin serving a 21-month sentence for tax fraud.Clarke walked into prison wearing a Crimson Tide jacket and baseball cap. He made the journey on a chartered bus, accompanied by about 50 church members. Other church members and supporters followed in vehicles.A federal jury convicted Clarke in July 2007 on charges he filed false income tax returns for 2000, 2001 and 2002. The rate of recidivism has dropped, according to a statistical report on Her Majesty’s Prison, which Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest tabled in the House of Assembly Wednesday night.
The report showed that the rate of recidivism declined from 32 percent in 2006 to 22.7 percent in 2007.
The recidivism rate is calculated based on persons returning to prison who had served a previous sentence.
"We do not want our young people who have been released from prison to go back again," Minister Turnquest said.
He was contributing to a debate on crime, which arose after the Opposition moved for the appointment of a select committee on crime.
The minister said the prison is now offering basic academic and skills training to inmates so that they have an advantage when reintegrating into society after they are released from prison.

Todo esto surge por unas palabras de LJ en el capítulo 3×09: “Boxed in” en las que aseguraba haber oído pero no visto como Gretchen mataba a Sara, lo que deja una pequeña puerta abierta para la posibilidad de ver de nuevo a Sarah en Prison Break. “Sin muerto no hay delito” pensarán algunos. Si LJ no llegó a ver como asesinaban a Sara podría ser que no estuviese muerta y que sólo la estuviesen torturando.
