For the past 20 years France has had a very successful nuclear energy program. With 58 power plants currently producing nearly 80% of the nation's electricity—it is a process that generates no pollution or green house gas emissions. However the European Union insists that by 2020, twenty perce
HD DVD camp responds to Blu-ray progressFiled under: Blu-ray HD DVD is officially against the ropes and is getting battered by wicked left and right hooks to the noggin by Blu-ray. But unlike a punch drunk boxer giving it one last shot at the win, it appears that the HD DVD camp is slowly coming to grips with its grim future. The camp responded to earlier reports that Netflix would only carry Blu-ray titles as well as Best Buy recommending Blu-ray as the HD standard. "We have long held the belief that HD DVD is the best format for consumers based on quality and value, and with more than 1 million HD DVD players on the market, it's unfortunate to see Netflix make the decision to only stock Blu-ray titles going forward," the statement read. "While the Best Buy announcement says they will recommend Blu-ray, at least they will continue to carry HD DVD and offer consumers a choice at retail."Sure, they're not exactly admitting defeat yet, but it's almost sad to see the HD DVD camp attem

Of course, you're welcome to read it and make comments. My credit WAS at around 720. That was in January of 2004 when I applied for my mortgage. Then life happened... They have lowered my interest rates quite a bit and I can comfortably pay back the money that I owe.Since being on CCCS you're technically NOT suppose to
I finished my story on Mars, but now have to go through the process of editing. The problem is I went 204 words over the maximum wordcount for the contest, so I have to quite a bit I think. It's going to be a tough time of editing. I'll figure it out though, I'm sure. At least the story is written.P.S.: I have no idea what the typo for 'trip' was...(Don't click the read more, there isn't any more after this!)
Yesterday Danny Sullivan published an article over at Search Engine Land discussing Google Universal Search. In his article he discusses how Universal Search has evolved in the short time since it debuted last year.Today Universal Search results are displayed based mostly on relevance and blended in with the natural search results. While it is very common for news, images, and other vertical search results to be displayed at the top of the page, more and more cases are being found with these being injected, or blended, right into the midst of things (for example in the #4 or #5 position, based entirely on relevance).Universal Search does not only display results based on Google news, but also looks at videos, images, maps, and other search relevant results from Google's various vertical search listings.Danny goes into significant detail in outlining various examples including screen shots, showing how Local, Image, News, and Video results are blended into the normal results pages. When we talk about lean manufacturing we talk about inventory and work in progress all the times. Lean and inventory are that close and therefore can not be separated. Lean manufacturing identifies inventory and WIP as the mirror of the imperfection system contain. Every imperfection creates a requirement for WIP in manufacturing. Apart from being a great reflector to the system imperfections, inventory becomes a waste by itself. Therefore work in progress and inventory in general is classified as a waste in lean waste classification. With higher inventory, capital will be tied up. In simple words you get little cash by selling goods after investing large amounts of money in manufacturing it. Cost will be high since there are related costs like interests. So either product will be sold with higher price tag or the organization will loose money from its bottom line. Higher inventory and work in progress hides the problems. Problems are hidden in higher work in progress and will be not po
Actually managed to work on the boat and accomplish something today. It reaches the point that you have gone so long without being able to work on it, its hard to get "back into it". Got going and as I figured, it was nice to have that sense of accomplishment.
First off cut the four layers of the motor mount for the stern. Got it glued up and then my wife was kind enough to hold the blasted heavy thing in position while I got it fastened. There will be some more glue to add on the seams (radiused epoxy filets) but its in there and stable now.
After that, Dane and I got the first piece of the hull skin cut. Its not fastened yet (got to do some more fairing/planing of the frames first), but it looks about right and was easier to fit in place than I was thinking it might.

November has been a very eventful month this year for us. My husband's birthday, buying a new car, and renting a new house kept me very busy all month. It was also a good month as I implemented some things I had read about Google Adsense and affiliate marketing. So let's start:Get Paid To BlogPay Per Post $31.10Smorty $40.80Sponsored Reviews $16.25Bloggertiser $5Total: $93.15Google AdsenseI reached the payout for Google Adsense. I remember in the beginning it felt that $100 is too huge an amount to reach with such few visitors. I have installed the software that connects to the server and shows me my earning immediately, so I don't have to login time and again to check. The highest I earned in one day was $4.88, and it was on the day I wrote, Make free Phone calls.I earned $72.52 Google Adsense in November: $72.52 and as of today I have $125 in my account. This links to an article about the "Lost Treasures" art event in Kenora, that I participated in, last month. Art exhibit commemorates lives of missing or murdered aboriginal women. The missing woman that was my subject, Angel Carlick, has since been found, deceased. The preliminary autopsy is "inconclusive".--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I'm reworking a big Whitetail deer antler/rawhide rattle. It previously had some loomwork beading, strung on waxed-linen cord that ran through small holes drilled into the tines of the antler. The sharp edges of the holes cut through the linen cord, however, so I had to remove it. In the future, I will remove the antler burr and restring it with a more rugged hemp twine, then reloom it.Currently, I am using a brick stitch method to cover the main beam of the rattle. Eventually, I will also run the brick stitch partway up the tines.[All pics click to enlarge.]Old pics:New view, at beginn

I previously wrote in this post that the Dmocrats were starting to change their strategy in regards to the Iraq war. Autumn is here, and its getting colder every day. The world seems to be filled with colors; different colored leaves, yellow, reddish and greens. Especially when it's morning, and I walk from the bus stop to my work place. Anyways, let's get to the point here:A progress report is long overdue, I know. Well, so here it is. A critical overview of my progress. Highlights of the month are:1. Google RankingI have finally managed to achieve google ranking. I randomly check the google ranking, and I checked on 2nd of November, and saw 3. I was amazed, and thought I have entered an incorrect address, and checked again. It was definitely 3. If you have been reading my blog for some time, you would know how much it meant to me to be finally ranked by Google. In the beginning, it was n/a, which was changed to 0. Anyways, I have also noticed that there are a number of visitors coming in through Google Seach Engine. (The traffic feed is really useful, and lets me know which posts are being read, an

On July first, America's oldest university will get its twenty-eighth president but, most notably, its first female president. Historian Drew Gilpin Faust was named this week to lead Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Harvard is three hundred seventy-one years old.Professor Faust has written several books on her specialty, the history of the American South and the Civil War. She is fifty-nine and attended Bryn Mawr College and the University of Pennsylvania. She arrived at Harvard six years ago as the founding dean of its Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She will replace Lawrence Summers who resigned last June after five years as president. His aggressive leadership style was unpopular with professors. He was widely denounced for comments he made in a speech in two thousand five. He was discussing possible reasons for the small number of women in top jobs in science and mathematics. He suggested that one area that should be considered was the possibility of biological

Our subject this week is children and AIDS.The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, has just released a report on a campaign launched in October of two thousand five. UNICEF, the U.N. AIDS program and other groups wanted to bring greater attention to the needs of children affected by AIDS.The report on the "Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS" campaign says there are signs of progress. One of the biggest problems is the spread of HIV from mothers to children. Mother-to-child transmission was the main cause of the estimated half-million new infections last year in children under the age of fifteen.UNICEF reports that several countries in eastern and southern Africa have made what it calls breakthroughs. It says they greatly increased the number of mothers who receive antiretroviral drugs. These medicines can prevent mother-to-child transmission. For example, the report says Namibia increased coverage from six percent of mothers to twenty-nine percent. That was between two thousand f

With Google’s update of Page Rankings rumored to be taking place during the month of August, Desty Online is getting a tune-up in regards to it’s search engine optimization processes. Here are some of the customizations we’re using to hopefully increase a possible Page Rank. I don’t pretend to know how to use all of these to their fullest, but based off my research these plug-ins make some much needed changes to your blog in order to make it search engine friendly.
All in One SEO Pack– Allows you to create a page title for single page posts separate from the title of the article itself. This enables you to insert more targeted keywords to help direct search engine traffic to relevant articles. Also allows keyword placement in the meta code of the article itself.

In the self-abnegating mindset that impacts individuals with eating disorders, it's so easy to minimize the progress that we make in recovery. It is for me. While the negative voices are no longer predominantly focused on the physical (eating disorder related), they do crop up every once in a while to say a host of other self-defeating thoughts; i.e. I'm a failure, I don't deserve to buy nice things for myself, I am a waste of money, I need to grow up already and figure out what I want to do, It's taking me too long to figure out the best type of work for me that will allow me to feel emotionally nourished rather than feed right on into my being a workaholic, which proceeds my neglect of myself in sake of "career success."These voices, when they rise, are thought through and stomped on by my assertiveness and perspective and sense of self. These voices don't get me anywhere. They used to hold me captive. Now, I am able to observe these thoughts and accept them for what they are; c

You can see different stages in the work process when I add new colors and shapes.Oil pastel on tinted paper. A new artwork is coming. I was recently in Estonia, Tallinn and there I found these lovely houses. I just had to make a painting with pastel.
Part 4. Some green is appearing now in the image. I like the vibrant color in oil pastel. The colors will not change as it dries like paint. If you paint with acrylics the colors look a little bit different.Next time the finished version!
