Proposal

  • Ch-36 : Proposal (Novel-Zero)
Anjeni still sat alone at the dinning table. By this time candles were stubbed out, leaving just the wax, spread out around on the table. The condition of her heart was somewhat similar, frozen after waiting so long for him. The dinner kept on the table was as it was, untouched. As she felt exhausted, she got up from the chair. Suddenly the wall piece rang, twelve strokes, as if it was the sound
  • Govt considering Air India proposal to give shares to workers
NEW DELHI: The government is considering a proposal by Air India to give out some of its equity capital as shares to the firm's employees to encourage their participation in running the national carrier. "As of now, there is no decision on the proposal by the Nacil, which runs Air India. It is aimed at encouraging the employees participation in running the national carrier. The percentage of the capital share and other details would be announced later," Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Chawla told reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on "Fast Growing Civil Aviation: Managing Safety". The government is likely to issue up to 5 per cent of National Aviation Company India Ltd's (Nacil) equity capital as shares to employees. To a query whether the national carrier would be privatised, he said, "the government has not yet taken a decision on this." Chawla said the test runs in the newly-constructed Bengaluru and Hyderabad greenfield airports, which will become operational in March-April th
  • Feds: Home Mortgage Proposal
The Feds have decided that people taking out new mortgages need more protection from predatory lenders. This article describes their plans to place new restrictions and limitations on lenders who make loans to higer risk borrowers. The new proposal "would restrict lenders from penalizing risky borrowers who pay loans off early, require lenders to make sure these borrowers set aside money to pay for taxes and insurance and bar lenders from making loans without proof of a borrower's income. It also would prohibit lenders from engaging in a pattern or practice of lending without considering a borrower's ability to repay a home loan from sources other than the home's value." Whenever government gets into the realm of making more laws and restrictions, there are always saavy people looking for loopholes to turn them into an advantage. I would like to see less regulations on what lenders can or cannot do but more disclosure to the borrowers about what type of loans they have and how they w

  • NCAA Proposal: America Rejects the Metric System
NCAA is proposing some amendments to the 2007 Rules Book that would reject the metric system in favor of the imperial system of measurement during collegiate track meets. to summarize the proposals, the 1500m Run would revert to the gold ol' Mile Run, and the field events would all have to be measured, displayed and announced as imperial units. Measuring in metric units would still be allowed for ratification of possible NCAA, American and/or world records. Why? Apparently Americans have rejected the metric system. I for one, never tried to embrace it in the first place. (Just give me a good old quarter-mile track to run on so I can run a few 220's!)The rabid proponents of metrication (metricationists?) on the activist website Go Metric are appalled at such backwards thinking. The track and field fanatics over at the T&F News message boards are engaged in a furious debate. The purists are considering a boycott of NCAA meets while the pragmatists (including E. Garry Hill, Editor of T&am
  • The Cincinnati Adult District:  Early Proposal
Photo courtesy of here. Just south of the Metropolitan Sewer District—yes, that means a few blocks from where the open-air pools of our region’s excrement get eaten by micro-organisms—there are blocks of totally abandoned buildings.  This can’t really come as a surprise:  who wants to live next to a place that stinks like everybody’s poop?  But there may be another solution, a money making concept that takes adult entertainment and tucks it away in an adult district out of view of families and religious people.  This could provide an economic benefit to our City’s struggling budget.  Why have City Council fight over whether we can keep human service funding in the budget, or whether we can keep inner-city health clinics open, when a revenue stream could be secured to fund those things in perpetuity? Why not establish an adult entertainment district in the abandoned area next to the MSD?  There is plenty of space.
  • A (few) (Im)Modest Proposal(s) - Part 2: First Nations Constituencies
This is an idea that I've been kicking around for a while, and it's a doozie.Add several seats to The Canadian House of Commons, reserved for First Nations Constituencies.I can already hear the howling, head-shaking, "wtf"-s and lip-trembling from here, but let me elaborate a little bit before you dump this post (and site bookmark)."The Native Vote" and voice, in Canada, is split up by geography, historic gerrymandering, statistical dilution in urban populations, etc. If First Nations' voters could choose an election to vote in, which was not bounded by a physical riding, but rather by a larger cultural constituency, then our votes would have more meaning. There are currently 308 MP (Member of Parliament) seats in The House, so let's say...10 more seats, scattered across the country and crossing provincial/territorial boundaries to better reflect cultural regions.By "choosing", I mean that a First Nation member would have to declare in advance whether to vote in the local riding ele
