  • More Ads in Oxado for Publishers
Two days ago, I have added a new 120x240 banner inside the post with Oxado ads and replace the Bidvertiser ads. I have previously review Oxado at its surface, for those readers who have missed it, you can check it here. There are two reasons behind: one is that I would like to know the viability of the Oxado ads, to see how it compares to that of Bidvertiser ads. On the other hand, I can see that there are great improvements done by Oxado. Recently, Oxado is getting a bigger and bigger advertiser base, and starts to serve ads in other languages, including traditional chinese that best fits for Hong Kong publishers(I always suspect I am the only publisher who use Oxado ads in Hong Kong).Several months ago, I had tried Oxado, and there is only one ad showing in all ad blocks. I checked the FAQ there and found out that since there is no advertisements in my language, so only one default ad can be displayed. I was pretty upset by it. But now, since there are much more ads in traditional ch
  • Google Analytics hearts AdSense publishers
As an AdSense publisher, you've probably put a lot of effort into making your website the best it can be -- optimizing your ads, building good content, and driving high quality visits. But there's one crucial step left: to see just how effective these things are. How many visitors are you getting each day? What pages are they visiting? Where do they come from, and which keywords brought them to your site -- both from pay-per-click efforts and from natural search? Many website owners push their site live, and then leave it at that, remaining in the dark about all these questions. Google Analytics can enlighten you. We think it's much more fun to have the answers to these burning questions, and that you owe it to yourself to know for sure. After all, this is the payoff for all the hard work that's gone into creating your site. When you launch or make a change to it, there's that initial excitement of wondering who's going to check it out. And Google Analytics can help you with all of this
  • Apology to Publishers and Authors
I am sorry that I have not been able to get a new book review up. I was hoping to get The Longevity Thesis finished over the weekend but I've come to the realization that I will not be getting any reading done until the middle/end of next week. I want to extend my apologies to anyone waiting on my reviews but please let me explain.Last weekend I went to a live production of the opera Madama Butterfly for my opera course at UC Santa Cruz. I had intended to get The Longevity Thesis done that weekend, but it proved futile as time became a factor on Sunday. This week happens to be the beginning of finals. This means I have four essays to write that are due next week on different dates. I'm planning to get most of them done over the weekend, but I doubt that will happen. However, I am going to catch up on an whole lot of reading over the break, which will extend from next week until the 3rd of January. This means I intend to not only read everything on my reading list, but I am also p
  • Frankfurt - Publishers - e-Books - e-Book Readers
Information World Review - in a further report from the Frankfurt Book Fair - reports that Wiley Chairman Peter Wiley and Stephen Smith, Wiley senior VP for Europe & International Development, are claiming that textbooks will soon be available digitally and that publishers will "drive the adoption of e-book readers". Stephen Smith noted that e-Book Readers are the key to the success of electronic text books. Is this textbooks on every student's personal reader (something I've been forecasting for a while)? "We may have to try to influence the tipping point of eBook readers," Smith said. "The ability of government and teachers to keep pace with technology is difficult. Anything that comes along to help learning is critical, and it is important that publishers play a part."Meanwhile TeleRead notes that 44% of 'biz pros' (whatever they are?!) surveyed at Frankfurt identified the use of e-books as a key area of growth for the industry. So that's pretty good news from Frankfurt for the e
  • Video Ads From Google and You Tube for Adsense Publishers
A few weeks ago I was reading about Google ads on YouTube. Looks like after a few weeks Google has now made it an option for people who have Google Adsense accounts. I found out about the update from the DP Forums in this thread. Also it looks like the story was in the NY times. Hopefully I can get an example shot below in this post today. I put in key words for that recent Toyota World of Warcraft Commercial which is stirring up a lot of talk in the gaming world.Watch the latest videos on YouTube.comPost Edited: Looks like the test ad didn't show up, and only showing a link to YouTube. I added one to my Money News site here. Looks like it only pulls from some approved videos or YouTube Video publishers. Also the ad unit is quite large in my opinion. There is only 3 different sizes to choose from. I picked the middle size for the Money News site.
  • Publishers take on YouTube
In what appears to be a move not entirely unrelated to Eminem's publishers suing for a share of the iTunes cash, the American National Musical Publishers' Association has joined the action against YouTube - an interesting move given that many of the record labels have come to terms with Google on this one, or are working towards agreements.
  • AdSense Publishers Reporting Earnings Slump
I tend not to report too much on the ups and downs of AdSense performance because from day to day it is quite normal for a publishers earnings to go up or down (for a variety of reasons). However over the last 48 hours I’ve had emails from quite a few readers asking if I’d noticed a downturn in AdSense earnings? The performance of my own blogs with AdSense hasn’t really been impacted too much (although today for the first time in ages my CTR is quite a bit lower and click values are down by around 40%) but from what I can tell quite a few AdSense publishers have seen significant decreases in CTR and click values for the last few days. My Adsense Nosedive (at Digital Point), AdSense EPC Going into Freefall (Webmaster World) and Is it slow, is it the weather or is it me? (Webmaster World). As I’ve mentioned above - it’s quite normal to see variations in earnings from day to day but perhaps something a little bigger is going on here? Have you noticed any changes in your A
