The Malaysian grandprix is all set to become the second grandprix to conduct a night race in the F1 calendar.Malasiyan race authorities at the Sepang circuit are examining whether to conduct a night race by installing a lighting system in that venue also. For this year however there would be a day grand prix only. The 10th Malaysian Grand Prix takes place on March 23, one week after the season-opener in Melbourne. This thing if it happens would be one of the most important ventures in the history of formula one and also all the other grandprix may take a leaf out of Asian Venues.
I thought Paul Krugman had a couple of really good posts on his blog here and here yesterday about all of the Clinton hate currently out there in the progressive blogosphere, as they say, noting the following…It really makes me sad to see so many people get played by the media on this. If you prefer Obama, fine — but the evil, race-card-playing Clinton campaign is no more real than Al Gore’s claim that he invented the Internet. And to Obama supporters, just remember: these people are not your friends. After they take down Hillary Clinton, if they can, your man will be next…Folks, you’ve been played like a fiddle by people in the media who just plain hate the Clintons. They tried to take Hillary down over her clothes, her voice, her tears. When none of that worked, they invented a race war. There are some perfectly good arguments against Hillary — Iraq, the presence of people like Mark Penn, the big-money Dems in her circle. But this really is Al-Gore-says-he-invented-the-Inte
TOKYO — Until recently, cellphone novels — composed on phone keypads by young women wielding dexterous thumbs and read by fans on their tiny screens — had been dismissed in Japan as a subgenre unworthy of the country that gave the world its first novel, “The Tale of Genji,” a millennium ago. Then last month, [...]
Today I like to share a story from Jill Koenig. I fully agreed with "Running Your Own Race". Many times, I compared myself with others, how much they earn, what they have achieved, and how lucky they always seem to be and felt demoralized!Often, I forgot that we are competing with different goals, some times even different races!Do not get discouraged when others are doing better, what's more important is, did we achieve the goal we set for ourselves? What others have achieved is what we can aim for, but for now, focus on our immediate achievable goal!Running Your Own RaceThink back to a time in your life when you tried something new. When I was a teenager I volunteered to work the water station at a 10k race. It was called the "Heaven Can Wait" 10k run and ironically, it was sponsored by the local cemetery. My job was to pass out water to the runners. I remember being so excited to see all the different kinds of people who passed by and grabbed a cup of water. Some ranpast, some walked

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney decided to suspend his presidential race and, literally, turn over the nomination to Senator John McCain. His concession speech contained insulting language which is inappropriate for a man who aspired to the presidential nomination of this nation. “If I fight on in my campaign,” he said, “all the way to [...]

The early totals looked pro-Clinton, but as the night wore on, Obama’s numbers rose, especially in cities and in the Midwest and West. By this morning, the race for the Democratic nomination looks extremely tight, with about a hundred delegates...

He's dropping out of the race, but not out of the picture. Picture this...Attorney General John Edwards, doesn't that just make you shiver? After whoring himself out all night long, Edwards will end up getting the attorney general gig from Obama. The mans gotta keep a job, he's got another kid to support. Democrat John Edwards is exiting the presidential race Wednesday, ending a scrappy underdog bid in which he steered his rivals toward progressive ideals while grappling with family hardship that roused voters' sympathies, The Associated Press has learned. The two-time White House candidate notified a close circle of senior advisers that he planned to make the announcement at a 1 p.m. EST event in New Orleans that had been billed as a speech on poverty, according to two aides. The decision came after Edwards lost the four states to hold nominating contests so far to rivals who stole the spotlight from the beginning — Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent COLUMBIA, S.C. (Reuters) - Voters in Nevada and South Carolina make their choices on Saturday in a chaotic U.S. presidential race, with polls showing tight struggles in both states as nominating battles move to the South and West. In South Carolina, Republicans John McCain and Mike Huckabee are battling for the lead in a race focused on economic worries, while Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson hope to shove their way to the top in a state where Republicans have a history as kingmakers. Since 1980, the Republican winner in the South Carolina primary has gone on to capture the nomination. Voting ends at 7 p.m. EST, with results expected soon afterward. "I'm like a lot of people in America tonight. I'm a guy over 50 looking for a job. I hope I get the hire," Huckabee told supporters at a Friday night rally at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. In Nevada, Democratic rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are waging anot

First, we had Iowa Republicans screw up and vote for a liberal RINO in Mike Huckabee, a man who uses religion as a means to spread a liberal socialist agenda through his great compassion. A terrible decision by the voters of Iowa.

I am a firm believer that every citizen of the United States has a responsibility to vote. I also believe that if a person does not vote, he or she should not complain about the way the country is being run. Since the election process is really starting to get some momentum, I decided to research the election process beginning with what is the difference between caucuses and primaries. Here is the best explanation I came across (caucus and primary information). In the course of this research I discovered that Delaware is holding a primary on February 5, 2008, so I figured I ought to brush up on what all of the candidates stand for so I can make an educated decision.Democratic CandidatesHillary Clinton clinton 2008 platform Barack Obama obama 2008 platformRepublican CandidatesMike Huckabee huckabee 2008 platformJohn McCain McCain 2008 platformRon Paul paul 2008 platform Other Party CandidatesLarry suggested that we include all of the candidates that represent the other parties. I am very into this election of watching everything I can with learning about candidates. I am independent voter who will be voting for a democrat in the election of 2008. On the democratic side, I am not sure whom I will vote for I like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I am very interested in both sides of the race with candidates is important to watch. Winner of republican John McCain does not surprise me I don’t know if he will be the final nominee. Never know I guess he is better qualified than the others in that party are. Democrat Hillary Clinton winning over Barack Obama so now they both won one. Those two candidates will be fighting it out until someone is the final nominee. I think it will be interesting to watch the next caucus I do like them both equally. I do like Hillary I think she would make a good president she is very smart and has been in white house before being first lady. I also think Barack Obama would be a great president too. I really like him is a great can

On the democratic side, I am not sure whom I will vote for I like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I am very interested in both sides of the race with candidates is important to watch. I am surprised by winner of republican Mike Huckabee had less money than most yet he came out ahead. It just shows it takes more than a bunch of money to win at a caucus. The winner for democrats was Barack Obama I am happy for him I have to admit he does have something special about him. Many people have said he reminds them of John F Kennedy. I agree Obama has that something special can’t explain with words but know something is so great about him. Now onto New Hampshire Caucus. - Shop Political T-Shirts and More at CafePress

Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson is speaking up about the yearly Oscar race, and specifically the effect it has on the making of movies. Nicholson said to Variety:I'm a big supporter of the Oscars from the beginning because I look at it for what I believe it was intended. However, for a very long time -- and I don't voice this very much -- I'm disturbed by what they call the "Oscar race." I've noticed that it's gradually spread, as though it were an election. This thing totally possesses the movie business for three months -- and it's now spreading to five months. Well, this cannot be really good for movies. I know, I'll admit to you openly, the minute somebody says "Oscar," whether you say you don't pay any attention, you start going, "And I wanna (thank the Academy)" in your mind. This is when it first started to disturb me. I'm down here trying to learn my lines, and I felt I couldn't concentrate completely on whatever picture I was working on. An actor's supposed to pretend inside t

The British Labour Party, the SPD in Germany, the Communist Party of India who govern West Bengal,[M[ and the ANC in South Africa have all bought into the false neo-liberal consensus that the most important political issue of the day is how one creates a dynamic economy which produces both economic growth and wealth. By doing so, all of these once progressive political organizations, along with countless smaller ones such as SF in Ireland, have become nothing more that the purveyor’s of gross inequality. For by choosing to trust big business implicitly and act as if it is a sublime influence within society, in reality amounts to inviting the fox into the hen-coop and by so doing we have ended up with a society which is the opposite of what the majority of the memberships of these organizations originally intended. It is no accident that reformist politicians like Gordon Brown, Gerhard Schröder, Budhadeb Bhattacharya and Thabo Mbeki have been to the fore in advocating neo liberal econ

The Wolverines have had their radio silence broken, as word has come out of New Jersey tonight that Rutgers' head coach Greg Schiano has interviewed for the Michigan job.Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano met with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin "for quite a while" to discuss the Big Ten school's coaching vacancy during the annual College Football Hall of Fame Banquet in New York City on Tuesday, according to a person who speaks regularly with Schiano.Though no official offer has been made, according to the person, one could be forthcoming. Finally, someone you can consider as a LEGIT candidate. Not a pipe dream like an Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops, not just a courtesy interview that were the talks with twin clueless coordinators Mike DeBord and Ron English, and not an utter joke like Brady Hoke. For that matter, Schiano's not a "Michigan Man," ala the early favorite, Les Miles. That's a good thing for such an in-bred program. For an excellent profile of the Rutgers coach, read MGoBlog

Some recent seasons of The Amazing Race have been criticized for silly tasks, spoonfed directions, and general lack of good race planning (and justifiably, too–Hong Kong=kung fu stunts? Really? A new research study by North-Western University has revealed that college students use social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace and Xanga based on their race, ethnicity and education. The research led by Eszter Hargittai, assistant professor of communication studies and sociology at Northwestern University and faculty associate at the Institute for Policy Research, challenged the democratic nature of online interaction and disclosed race, ethnicity and the education level of one’s parents can predict which social network sites a student selects. "Race, ethnicity and the education level of one’s parents can predict which social network sites a student selects, suggests there’s less intermingling of users from varying backgrounds on these sites than previously believed," said Eszter Hargittai. The study found that Facebook is the social networking site of choice for white students, that Hispanic students prefer MySpace and that Asian and Asian-Ame
