I could not fall asleep. I laid down at 10:30, but i couldn't sleep. Rand and Jimmy were out at a game, and Salinda was out with friends. I knew that Rand and Jimmy would wake us up around 11 and Salinda at 12, so I figured there would be no point in falling asleep to only be awakened twice.So I decided to wait up for them. As predicted, JImmy and rand were home around 11:10. But at 12:10, still no Salinda. She calls. Says she's on her way home. I remind her that she needs to have been home 10 minutes ago. She can tell I am not happy with her already. So, obviously not having a brain, she calls five minutes later and asks to stay out until 2. No, not going to happen. So she argues with me. The rediculousness of it starts to horribly annoy me and my blood pressure starts to rise. I keep telling her that she needs to come home. She keeps saying she's not going to her. I warn her that she will not have permission to go out with those kids again if she does not come hom

Once again solid proof that my caring state of California (yay, California!) is really attempting to save as many lives as it possibly can.
I am behind this idea of crushing cars caught in street racing, as I believe it will serve to deter further people being killed.
Why? well...how many teens do YOU know would like to see their cars being crushed? How many teens do YOU know could afford to buy another car? How many teens do YOU know would have their cars be replaced by their parents once they've learned that their children have been involved in such a deadly game?
Hope this law makes its way to every state in the country. Lots of kids would be angry, but they would be alive to scream and curse.

Jesse Squire over at The Track & Field Superblog proposed some ideas for streamlining and improving the USATF VISA Tour points system. His main thrust was "a new method based mostly on competition" that would "give athletes points based on place." His argument is that "running for time instead of competition destroys competition in favor of time trialing."I can appreciate his argument. It's one made often by track and field purists. I just can't hang my hat on the phrase "destroys competition." I commented on his post:Good ideas. You've got to admit, though, that organized "time trials" do have their place — especially in the middle-distance races — and are what produce most world records. There's nothing quite like watching a race that has a couple of world-class runners being paced by a couple of knowledgable rabbits. Those type of "time trial" conditions are what allow us to be treated to a world record like the exquisitely paced Mile world record by Hicham El Guerrouj.
