There are several restaurants with some version of Grand Sichuan Chinese Restaurant, Grand Sichuan Chinese Restaurant as their name. This one, chosen for Karen's birthday, specializes in Hot Pot. Their ingredients are fresh and they have a decent selection. I did ask for taro, which was not listed on their menu, but they had it. Most importantly, they have a real Sichuan style spicy stock. Their wontons (not like regular wontons) are a must! We ordered a second plate.Oh, and if you haven't had the frozen tofu that I mentioned in Chinese New Year at my Mom's, you can try that here too.

Since the Friday before Christmas, we've noticed that restaurants (in NYC) have been really empty. Even places that are normally packed look less crowded; you could easily walk in without reservations. My brother, Lon, and I all trekked from Manhattan to meet with my parents for this dinner, expecting it would be worth the travel. I saw some good reviews on Yoshi Japanese Restaurant Yoshi Japanese Restaurantso I was excited to go. Lon, Andy, and I were all disappointed. The quality was a bit below average and the cuts were terribly ugly. The salmon pieces had a whole layer of fat left on and the yellowtail was an awful cut that made it unrecognizable. The salad that comes with each dinner is also really sad. The wilted greens and watered down dressing set the stage for the coming meal.While we were walking home, we spotted a Mary's DairyMary's Dairy. Lon bought a chocolate and cheesecake fudge that looked much better than it tasted. I asked the employee if the ice cream had food coloring in it and he said he didn't know. To play it safe, I only tried the cookies and cream and the Yin-Yang (milk chocolate with dark chocolate pieces), flavors I could reasonably assume were not colored. But does anyone know how such a philosophy might get applied to the new Italian restaurant being built on Fountain Square? Who owns that restaurant? To whom does the rent money go? Is the City of Cincinnati now in the restaurant renting business? Or, did 3CDC build a space to rent on the top of Fountain Square? If one company cannot make profit off placing bench advertisements on public space, should another be allowed to build a whole restaurant on public space? What are the details about this restaurant?
There are, admittedly, many details that need to be acquired before further discussion can rightfully take place. That is why I’m sending the following messages both to C
Live piano music at Pier 77. A wonderful touch. Our Fourth of July evening began with wonderful company at a wonderful restaurant. Janice and I were joined by Pete and Miriam at Pier 77 for our annual pre-fireworks 4th of July dinner.I have said it before but it is worth repeating, Pier 77 is an excellent restaurant in a fantastic location.We received a warm greeting from Kate (the owner, along with her husband Pete who was hard at work in the kitchen) when we arrived. Our table was right by the window. Most of the tables are by the windows and, those that aren't have an equally spectacular view anyway.Pete and Miriam shared a Classic Ceasar Salad to start. It looked delicious and they both confirmed it. For Janice, it was the Spinach Salad, complete with candied pecans and Goat Cheese. It is served with beets but, I didn't mention them as we both hate beets. Sorry, but neither one of us can stand them. Janice loved the salad. The candied pecans are an excellent complement to the Goat
7. Diet platters come with complimentary cheesy fries.

5. That guy from “Super-size Me” is there with a camera crew.

So, I find this great hotel deal and I'm thrilled to have internet, a pool, and breakfast for cheep.But then the internet didn't work.We've had some fun. The kids have swam, we saw a cheap movie, and now we're having supper.And I'm pathetically checking directions to fireworks online from a fast food restaurant.Happy Independence Day.
