NEW YORK (Reuters) - Eastman Kodak Co on Thursday outlined a new strategy for its restructured businesses, forecasting 2008 revenue toward the higher end of Wall Street expectations and strong digital growth through 2011. Kodak issued its forecast at the start of an investor meeting in New York to discuss its future after a long, costly transition to digital photography products and services. Shares of the company rose 20 cents to $18.86 on the New York Stock Exchange. Kodak said it expects 2008 earnings from continuing operations of $250 million to $275 million, including pretax charges of $60 million to $80 million for restructuring costs and other items. Ltd. plans to invest 2 billion rupees over the next 15 months for a heavy engineering equipment and forging unit in West Bengal, a senior official said on Thursday. It is aiming at 6 billion rupees in revenue in the current financial year and 10 billion rupees by 2008/09 on rising orders, Managing Director Srinivash Singh told Reuters in an interview. The firm, specialising in basic engineering work for power, steel, cement units and supplying bulk handling equipment to ports, has a total order book of 20 billion rupees, he said. It has also appointed consultants to study possibilities of buying an engineering unit in India or abroad. Construction of the 25,000-tonne-engineering machinery unit will start soon, while work on its forging division will start after obtaining a feasibility report, Singh said. The company, however, was on track to meet its profit guidance of 17.5 rupees a share for the year, Chairman Ajay Piramal said at a news conference to announce the company's quarterly results. Core profit margins are expected to improve to 19.6 percent for the year from 17 percent last year, he added. "Our focus is on profitability. We are looking to cut our low margin products," he said. The Indian rupee rose 12.3 percent in 2007 against the dollar. The company will also migrate some manufacturing from its UK units to India to help improve margins, he added. Well I have good news, and bad news about my Whypark trial site. The good news is that I now have about 800 pages indexed, with a little bit of extra traffic trickling in.
