  • Satellite Shoot Down
The spy satellite USA-193, also known as NROL-21, was launched aboard a Delta II rocket on Dec. 14, 2006 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Shortly after the satellite reached orbit, ground controllers lost contact with it. Though the satellite’s objective is secret, many believe it is probably a high-resolution radar satellite intended to [...]
  • Russia says U.S. may use satellite blast as test
Russia's Defence Ministry said there was insufficient proof that Washington's decision to fire a missile at the disabled satellite was to prevent a potentially deadly leak of toxic gas as it re-entered Earth's atmosphere."Under cover of discussions about the danger posed by the satellite, preparation is going ahead for tests of an anti-satellite weapon. Such tests mean in essence the creation of a new strategic weapon."
  • Watch Satellite TV Controls for Children

  • U.S. To Shoot Down Falling Spy Satellite
It's a good idea. We surely do not want the satellite landing somewhere not favorable to the United States. Blow it up before it enters the atmosphere and the smaller pieces will probably burn up in re-entry. The Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, The Associated Press has learned. U.S. officials said Thursday that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire a missile from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the options will not be publicly discussed until a later Pentagon briefing. The disabled satellite is expected to hit the Earth the first week of March. Officials said the Navy would likely shoot it down before then, using a special missile modified for the task.

  • Dial-up, DSL, Cable, Satellite, Wireless or even free Internet access
It used to be really simple: there was dial-up access and even then chances are you were pretty technically minded to want Internet access anyway. However, it’s very different these days. • Iran tests rocket, plans to launch satellite - TV
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran launched a rocket on Monday designed to send its first homemade research satellite into orbit in the next year, state television said, a move likely to add to Western concerns about Tehran's nuclear plans. The ability to put satellites into orbit could indicate an advance in the Islamic Republic's missile technology, though official media gave few details. State television reported the rocket had blasted off but did not show the launch. It had earlier broadcast footage of a rocket on a launch pad in desert terrain. It said the satellite, called Omid (Hope), would be launched in the next Iranian year, which ends in March 2009. "We need to have an active and influential presence in space," President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a televised ceremony before the launch. "Iran took its first step (to establish a presence in space) very strongly, precisely and wisely," he said. "Building and launching a satellite is a very important ach

  • Putin wants to keep track of his pet dog with a navigation satellite collar
Russian President Vladimir Putin wants a sat-nav dog collar to keep a track of his pet labrador, Connie. The BBC quoted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov as saying that Putin had informed him of his plans for his pet, while he was presenting plans for launching three new navigation satellites. He said the collars would be in the shops in Russia from July 2008. The Proton-K, a Russian rocket, is due to launch three new satellites into orbit today to facilitate Russia's Glonass navigation system. They will bring to 18 the total number of satellites mapping Russian territory. Ultimately it is planned to have 24 satellites in orbit from 2009. The Russian army developed the Glonass system in the 1980s, in competition with the US GPS network and the European Galileo system. (ANI)

This latest book we got is about two male penguins who fall in love at the Central Park Zoo and raise a baby penguin together. Racy little tale for kids I'd say!? It was a gift. Anyway for as long as they would sit for me; their dews came out great. I try and cut their hair like mine so people at least perceive that they are my children.
