  • Second Life: Fraudulent Cash Could Bankrupt The Unwary - SendMeRSS
Second Life: Fraudulent Cash Could Bankrupt The Unwary A recent warning issued to players of Second Life brings word that fraudulent money transfers will be removed from player accounts along with a 50% additional charge. The problem with this is that anyone can send any amount of money to anyone else at any time. As a result, if a player wishes harm on another, they need only send an unsolicited amount of fake currency to the other and Linden will not only freeze the recipient's account for the duration of an investigation, they will also take an exorbitant amount of cash as restitution. While it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem as of yet, in theory it could escalate into one of the most nefarious, costly forms of griefing in virtual world history. While we understand Linden Labs' desire to prevent the transfer of phony money that could easily be converted into real dollars, adding the additional 50% surcharge for offenses is just asking for people to take advantage

Linden Labs has always been adamant about furthering their vision of Second Life as the future of commerce, and whether or not that ever happens, they're certainly making it easy to look like you're running a reputable business of selling anthropomorphic bears and friendly plants. • Entrevista-Visita en SL Virtual Tech University: Un newbie en Second Life (I)
• Sky News Reports on Peadophilia in Second Life.
Ah, Second Life! Land of furries, flying genitals, more sex than you can shake a stick at and - now - people who like to pretend to have sex with children. In a world where the only limit is your imagination it's inevitable that those with twisted minds are going to set up home. The video above is a Sky News report on an area in Second Life known as 'Wonderland'. Like countless area's in Second Life it's a place that people with the sole objective of getting some virtual 'no strings' sex can call home; except in this twisted place the avatars are in the guise of children - some as young as toddlers. The video, admittedly, employs shock tactics and has a scaremongering feel to it but it does highlight a legitimate and important issue in regard to what crosses the line in the so-called freedom of Second Life. The residents of Second Life may hark on about how their creativity shouldn't be limited but I don't see how sex with children could possibly have a legitimate reason to exist in so

  • Second Life in CSI: NY.
You could be forgiven for thinking that trailer was a spoof but it's from an actual CSI:NY episode airing in the US on Wednesday. Finished staring at the video in crazed wonderment? Right!I'm all for virtual worlds and Web 2.0 entering the mainstream but this is slightly strange. The plot sees Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) entering Second Life in order to pursue a killer who has killed another Second Life user. Apparently Second Life is the Matrix as one of the shows characters (I don't watch the show) screams 'log off!' as Mac is about to be killed in the game. Although the episode would probably have been better with Mac's head being decapitated in real life at the same time as his virtual characters the episode is still worth watching because it's indeed a bold move for the show and it's novelty value is too much to pass on.The show will also have a tie-in with Second Life (which expects an influx of a million new users) whereby fans will be given the task of solving the murders in Secon
  • Second Life Virtual Recruitment Fair
For the past several months, several clients have approached us about the concept of doing a Second Life Virtual Recruitment Fair. Although the idea of Virtual Interviews has been floating around for some time, there has been a recent deployment of such a campaign in the U.K. While the goal of this particular campaign is to source English spies, there has been quite a few mobile companies recently planning to use similar tactics for their recruitment strategy. The process is simple. As a Candidate, you create an account on Second Life and in the process - a custom-made avatar. From there, you explore the world of the Employer. You can learn about the company's culture, benefits, job opportunities and career resources. You eventually submit a CV / Resume to a staffing manager (avatar) and wait to be evaluated. If chosen for an interview, you are invited back at a pre-scheduled date / time to conduct a Virtual Interview with the recruiter. While the pre-screening process does not occu
  • Control Second Life With Your Brain.
There's a common misconception that everyone who plays video games are lazy because all they seem to do is sit on their ass all day. With the advent of the Wii this opinion has changed a little but there's still the idea that video gamers could be doing far more with their time. So, when some Japanese bioengineers come up with a way of playing games without even so much as moving a muscle you might concede that these 'haters' have a point.Unfortunately the 'game' they decided to test this on was Second Life and one could argue whether or not the 'games' users actually have brains that think about anything other than sex (cheer up, I'm kidding!). The device works by monitoring electrical activity in the motoro cortex via eternal electrodes on the scalp. Hmm, I'll let the experts explain this one;All a user has to do to control his/her avatar is imagine performing various movements. The activity monitored by the headpiece is read and plotted by an electroencephalogram, which relays it to

In case you are not aware, Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its users, known as Residents. It's totally free to join in. It was developed by Linden Research, Inc and launched in 2003. Residents interact and do business with each other in this World. I was surprised when I learnt that Second Life even has a virtual currency called the Linden Dollar, which is actually traded. Residents can convert Linden Dollars into US Dollars and vice-versa. Despite fluctuating a bit, the value has remained stable at approximately 250 Linden Dollars (L$) to the US Dollar for quite sometime now. Most of the content in this virtual world are created by the Residents and they retain the copyright over their content. This is very funny. I chance upon Dolmere Talamasca’s blog again today. Again, really, I had no hard feeling towards him at all. Everything that has happened was just a voice over opinions and I think there is no right or wrong at all. Everyone has a right to choose what they want as long as you have a rigid support towards your decision. Just as I had closed the window to Dolmere, I thought that I would like to let him know how I feel, just in case he does not know. I hate to leave comment, especially in blogs where you need to key in your name and email address. Dolmere had even ’suggested’ using false emails, but that is not me. My email address is not a secret. I don’t leave comment in everywhere that I go. I leave comment when I really feel that the blog is good, and really worth complimenting. Well, today for the first time, I leave my comment at Dolmere’s blog, not because I like his blog, but because of the way we got to know each other. Leaving a

To those people who loves to play online games and online gambling, the cessation of Second Life Casino would be a disappointment to them.  To the regular customers who patronized Second Life Casino, they would have to seek new way of entertainment.  The effects of Second Life Casinos can be classified into two categories of people — the business people and the consumers, the Second Life Residents. Photo: terragalleriaThe growth I've made in one year on the computer is really quite phenomenal, and this growth was the result of study, diligence, and many long hours spent experimenting how to make things work. Nowhere is this growth more apparent--at least to me--than my ability to create a Second Life avatar, dress and design her, and move her around. The reason I jumped into Second Life was because I wanted to attend the BlogHer Conference which will be happening this coming weekend in Chicago. Since many people can't attend, they are offering a live feed of the conference into Second Life. This is Sex Castle.  As the name suggest, it is a castle for you to have sex.  There are two storeys to the castle if I am not wrong.  I had not had much time in the castle as there is nothing much to see and the place is very laggy.   Most popular places in Second Life is laggy; and I hate to go actually, as I can hardly move.  As you can see from the pictures, there are many bed scenes to be seen at Sex Castle.  Most people here are naked and most guys walked around with their penis hanging around.  That is obviously a disgusting scene but it is a matter of getting use to it — after some time everything is just animation and it is so mechanical and cartoon-like.  What makes people come to Second Life?  Purpose In Second Life 1.  Curiosity As with most things, everybody is curious about new things and want to try and experiment new things.  People do not want to be ‘left’ on the bench when all their friends are all talking about Second Life, but the

Quoted From Dolmere Talamasca: Rambling About and Around That Top Sites Page (http://www.lovelymachine.com/Dolmere/2007/07/rambling_about_and_around_that_top_sites_page.html) I do quite agree that the “SL-blog-thing should not be a ‘popularity contest’”. It’s a community and in my opinion everyone has something interesting to contribute. That means you are not sure of where you stand. You are FOLLOWING the crowds. People do something you must follow. You see fire, you pour fuel
