  • Sigma SD14 digital SLR camera - Review
The Sigma SD14 is a fast and responsive digital SLR camera with a rugged build and intuitive uncluttered control layout.Acclaimed third-party lens and accessory manufacturer Sigma has bravely – but hitherto not totally successfully – attempted to cut out the middleman and launch its own series of digital SLRs, boasting a unique Foveon sensor with a three-layered pixel configuration – one layer each for red, green and blue light.Sigma claims that while conventional CCD or CMOS sensors are good at detecting the intensity of light, they miss a lot of colour information. The Sigma SD14 - Sigma's third attempt at a digital SLR - now comes with a Foveon X3 chip and according to Sigma delivers results equivalent to a 14Mp model.Image quality is, of course, about more than pixels. The Sigma SD14 then has other features including a removable dust protector, light sensitivity ranging from ISO100 to ISO1600 and the ability to shoot common Jpeg as well as best-quality RAW files. more : pcadvi

  • Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS Review
Sigma 18-200mm Build and HandlingThis lens is surprisingly solid in its construction and is heavier again by half than its non-OS sibling. The difference is not just from the OS system though, with a better overall feel to it that encourages confidence in its abilities. Not that the lens is heavy, but it is certainly no plastic fantastic! Two substantial, rubber embossed rings, one to operate the zoom and the other for manual focussing adorn the majority of the barrel. Both are nicely torqued with the focussing ring being the lighter of the two to use when in manual mode. Two control switches adorn the left of the barrel (Canon and Sigma fit) one for the AF on/off and the other for the OS on/off. Both are sturdy and have well protected collars. A smaller zoom lock switch also sits just to the left of centre. The zoom action extends the barrel by some 60mm on a double trombone that has virtually no play in it. The first of the trombone sections is helpfully marked with a reproduction rat

  • Lean and six sigma
Six Sigma is a system mostly focused on quality. Developed for Motorola Six Sigma is said to have saved billions of dollars for them. Six Sigma concept is used to improve the quality, create a culture focused on customer requirements and measure and analyze those results using statistical tools. Most of the people describes the number of defects per million opportunities is the core discipline in Six Sigma. There is a different dimension to this concept as well. Involvement of management in the process, defining the quality and requirements from a customer’s perspective are very important in Six Sigma.Lean manufacturing on the other hand is a system which looks at the entirety. One of the main advantages of lean may be the high quality. But quality is not the only focus of lean. It focuses on fulfilling the customer requirements effectively and efficiently. Aging lean has some similarities with Six Sigma concepts. For example management participation, customer focus are areas looked
