HONG KONG (Reuters) - Indian developer DLF Ltd. is still working on listing a $1.5 billion property trust in Singapore and expects the IPO to be launched in the second quarter of this year, despite bruising market conditions. Some bankers have suggested that volatile markets would delay planned listings of real estate investment trusts (REITs) by Indian developers, including DLF, the country's most valuable property firm. But DLF's chief financial officer, Ramesh Sanka, told Reuters the deal was going ahead. "The process of creating a REIT is going on, but we haven't got all the approvals in place," Sanka said in a telephone interview from New Delhi. "We should be getting approvals in a month, then we will have to take the next step," he said. • Two Australians quizzed over Singapore plane alert
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Two Australians were being questioned by Singapore police after the small plane they were flying caused a temporary lockdown of city-state's commercial airspace on Tuesday evening, a local paper reported Thursday. The plane, a single-engine turboprop Cessna 208, flew into Singapore airspace from Thailand without permission and was intercepted by two Singapore air force fighter jets before landing at Changi Airport. The Straits Times reported that the plane was bought this month by an Australian woman who owned a travel company. The report did not identify the two people on board. The closure of commercial airspace affected 23 aircraft, disrupting flights in and out of Changi Airport. Another inbound aircraft was diverted to Senai Airport in neighbouring Malaysia.

  • Singapore's Economy Shows Signs of Overheating, Economists Say
By Shamim Adam Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore's economy risks overheating as home prices reach the highest in a decade, companies hire workers at an unprecedented pace and the stock market soars to record levels, economists say. Inflation at a 12-year high and an economy expanding ``a little too rapidly'' mean signs of overheating are ``a few too many for comfort,'' Robert Prior-Wandesforde, an economist at HSBC Holdings Plc in Singapore, said in an Oct. 3 report. ``Consumer prices are by no means the only thing running relatively hot in the economy at present,'' Prior-Wandesforde said. ``A buoyant labor market was accompanied by strong wage growth. The Straits Times index has also risen nearly 50 percent over the last year.'' Singapore's economy grew an annualized 14.4 percent in the second quarter, the fastest pace in two years, fueled by construction and financial services. Employers added a record number of worker
