  • Rome guidebook smackdown
Because no one knows a city as well as the locals do, Budget Travel magazine asked a trio of insiders to give their opinions of three recent guidebooks about Rome.
  • Soft Drink Smackdown: Pepsi vs Coke
In a real fight between Coke and Pepsi, Pepsi won. I wonder if 7UP fights the winner. The long-standing rivalry between Coke and Pepsi took a physical turn Friday when a Pepsi deliveryman allegedly punched his Coke counterpart in the face at a western Pennsylvania Wal-Mart, state police said. The two deliverymen were "apparently bickering back and forth" while unloading their wares at the Indiana County store, police said. When the Coke deliveryman left the store, his counterpart allegedly punched him in the face three times, breaking his nose and giving him a black eye, police said. No charges have been filed, but police characterized the incident as a misdemeanor simple assault.
  • The Hazleton Ordinance Smackdown -- High Lights of the Low Lifes
The United States District Court in Scranton has issued an over 200-page opinion, granting a permanent injunction against enforcement of the anti-Hispanic Ordinance parlayed into 15-minutes of infamy by Hazleton Mayor Lou "Hispanics The Source of All Crime, My Ass The Source of All Truth" Barletta. We've been reviewing the Federal Smackdown and offer here some of the high lights of the Court's findings. We learn, not surprisingly, that the Hazleton goon squad (which earned the support and admiration of the Ku Klux Klan) was heavy handed in dealing with Latino and Hispanic residents, and somewhat less than direct and forthright in dealing with the Court. Most of all, we see again that NEPA works hard to justify its reputation, kids. The Court takes us through many stories of official, police, and mob intimidation of people in Hazleton based solely on what they look like. Of course, it is their fault -- they had the bad grace to be Hispanic in Hazleton. The Barletta Klan first tir
  • Video: E3 Babes - Smackdown vs Raw 2008
Okay, let me ask you? What’s E3 without the booth babes? Answer: It will be a gathering of nerds and game business dudes. They’ll have cameras and they just shoot at boring trailers and their Starbucks drinks. Sigh. I’ve done coverage of the E3 girls back at my old blog. Now I only managed to get hold of this video featuring WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 (which of course, was announced at E3). Enjoy! 2007, babes, e3, Events, Gaming, girls, video, Videos
  • Taliban Smackdown In Afghanistan
I eagerly anticipate this to be on the news tonight. It won't be the first time I've been let-down. Afghan and coalition forces killed scores of Taliban insurgents and detained five others in Afghanistan over the past two days, military officials said. During an operation today in the Andar district of Ghazni province, coalition forces detained five militants. Credible intelligence led the forces to two compounds where militant activity was allegedly occurring, military officials said. Troops found AK-47 assault rifles, combat vests and grenades while searching the compounds. They confiscated these items and destroyed the weapons a safe distance away. “Coalition forces will continue to root out militants whose activities threaten the peace and stability of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,” said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force 82 spokesman. The detainees are being held for questioning, officials said. No civilians were injured in the operation.
  • Ashley Massaro gets the smackdown out of wrestling
Wrestling diva(?) Ashley Massaro just quit wresting to join the reality series Survivor. Most of you may know her as the rags to riches model who rose to fame using her enduring spirit and sassy gumption. Or maybe just as the short girl with the giant rack who wrestles other girls[!] on tv. Gazongariffic WWE [...]
