WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man carrying a sword and a shotgun was arrested a block from the U.S. Capitol on Friday but there were no shots fired or injuries, police said. Michael Steven Gorbey, a 38-year-old with a long criminal record, was arrested and is charged as a felon in possession of a firearm, police said. Other charges are pending. Gorbey did not resist arrest after he was apprehended walking in the direction of the Capitol, police said. "The officers were able to apprehend him quite easily," said U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. She said Gorbey's residence was unknown and that there were several different addresses associated with his name. "He's got an extensive criminal record," Schneider said. She did not provide details about where Gorbey might have been going or what he meant to do when he got there. "He could have been headed anywhere," she said. Police with dogs cordoned off several blocks
Bushido – the "Way of the Warrior" - is a Japanese code of conduct and a way of life. The true Bushido Code originates from the samurai moral code which stresses frugality, loyalty, martial arts mastery and honor till death. As for the history of Bushido: it was developed between the 9th to 12th centuries as set forth by numerous translated documents dating from the 12th to 16th centuries. However, some dependable sources also state the document might have been formulated in the 17th century. Bushido was widely practiced and it is surprising how uniform the samurai code remained over time, crossing over all geographic and socio-economic backgrounds of the samurai. The samurai represented a wide populace numbering from 7% to 10% of the Japanese population, and the first Meiji era census at the end of the 19th century counted 1,282,000 members of the "high samurais", allowed to ride a horse, and 492,000 members of the "low samurai", allowed to wear two

Sony will be announcing a new PlayStation 3 Starter Pack in Europe. While the price remains the same (€599/£425) the contents of the box has changed to include an extra controller and the games Formula 1 and Heavenly Sword. Generally speaking, Heavenly Sword and Formula 1 appeal to completely different tastes. Perhaps this is Sony's way of making the console appeal to different members of the family. A Blu-Ray player for the dad, a racing game for the son and a woman-power adventure game for the daughter/mum? It screams of check-all-the-boxes, target-every-demographic marketing which, until games like Singstar are released, won't work too well. This is all moot, of course, as ever since the Starter Pack was released shortly after E3, stores have been soft-bundling different games with the PS3 at the Starter Pack price. It's no harder to pick up a PS3 with Genji and Ridge Racer than it is to get one with Motorstorm and Resistance at the same price. Lastly, you may have noticed that
Sword of the New World is another translated-from-Korean game, now released in the West. You can download the client, and play the initial levels (1-20, out of 100) for free, after which it costs $8.95 a month - or you can stay at level 20. To summarise: the gameplay is very different, but interesting, and the game is astoundingly pretty. The prettiness really is the thing that strikes you first; the character generation screens are stunning. However, you're immediately also struck by some of the differences from the run of the mill MMOPRG. First and foremost, you create a family name before you do anything else, and all your characters will have this as a surname. Then, your character creation isn't so much creation as choice - you pick a gender, class and a costume, and create a name. There's no facial customising, no stat juggling, or anything else, and the characters looks and clothing do not change in play (at least, as far as I've been able to establish).

On the final day of competition at the world equestrian skill-at-arms championships in Oman, my horse Shomool remained in a surly mood. The rider to our left is keeping a considered distance, as Shomool had just attempted to deliver a slaying kick to his horse; Shomool's rear hooves came within centimetres of the intended victim. The warhorse's wayward bloodlust would remain with Shomool for the rest of the competition, and he seemed dejected that I insisted on coming between him and his wrath. A full account of the games is at my March 2007 blog.
After an abysmal showing the previous day at the world equestrian skill-at-arms championships in Oman, my horse Shomool and I redeemed ourselves in the sword discipline, though not before galloping through a near-death experience involving a stone wall and a low-hanging tree. A full account of the games is at my March 2007 blog.
As if being a tent pegger is insufficiently absurd on its own, I found myself practising for the upcoming world championships in -30C weather, some 65C lower than the likely temperatures at the competition itself. Peter Cheney of the Globe and Mail dropped by to observe the sport of sword and lance, and to ask a few questions between chattering teeth. I am only pleased that I managed to avoid demonstrating the horseback pole-vaulting catastrophe that he described...
Andy Barrie tries, largely in vain, to restrain his mirth as we discuss the upcoming world equestrian skill-at-arms championships in Oman, at which I will represent the country as a member of UNICEF Team Canada. The segment was originally broadcast on CBC Radio One's Metro Morning.
Wat er gebeurt met een Samurai zwaard als je er met een mitrailleur een aantal keren op schiet kun je zien als je gaat kijken naar The ultimate Samurai Sword.
