A buzz-word from 2005 is still pretty relevant two years down the line for online marketing professionals and the eMarketing community. Behavioral targeting refers to the phenomenon of increasing a marketing campaign’s potential to succeed using the data collated from an individual’s online search method and search engine browsing behavior. Many online marketing professionals make use of such systems in order to understand the appropriate manner in which consumers can be handled. Website advertisers find behavioral targeting very convenient to influence a wider network of people. Some examples of systems that make use of behavioral targeting are WunderLoop, DoubleClick and Boomerang. Anybody who is conscious about branding, website promotion and Internet advertising is an ideal proponent of this technique. According to eMarketer, the behavioral targeting technique is liable to grow and pool in 3.8 billion worth of dollars by 2011 as compared to the $575 million it is cu
Researchers at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine have found that by targeting neuronal support cells called astrocytes can slow the progression of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurons, long and complex nerve cells that reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body and leads to loss of muscle control, paralysis and untimely death. The study led by Don Cleveland, Ph.D., UCSD Professor of Medicine, Neurosciences and Cellular and Molecular Medicine revealed that small immune cells called microglia are damaged by mutations in the SOD1 protein in initial stages of ALS that leads to the degeneration of the motor neurons and something similar happens to astrocytes support cells, essential to neuronal function. “Mutant genes that cause ALS are expressed widely, not just in the motor neurons,”
As an accredited Yahoo Ambassador, I am accustomed to working with the Yahoo Search Marketing PPC system (YSM). Although YSM can be an effective means of paid advertising, its Panama system still has a ways to go and I want to share with you several of the challenges in setting up a geo-targeted campaign.Opening an account with an address in the US or Canada, restricts you to advertising only in those markets. If you'd like to geo-target other areas of the globe, you have to use this site: Yahoo International AccountsOnce there, a separate account for each and every additional country you wish to advertise in will need to be created. That's an awful lot of work for someone wanting to geo-target globally. When calling YSM support to find out how to get around this, their answer was that it is impossible to integrate campaigns to be served globally. I found this to be odd, as I'd just completed a globally targeted campaign in Google Adwords for the same client.Another hitch in geo-target
We already know through a recent Nielsen survey that word of mouth is the most trusted form of marketing. An Internet Marketer article last week confirms this reporting that customer reviews do indeed have a direct impact on a consumer’s buying decisions, both online and offline. This is because customers put a lot of emphasis [...]

Women do the bulk of shopping. Study after study reveals that, in general, men dislike shopping. Even when men go shopping for things they say they like, such as cars, research shows that in most cases the purchasing decision is actually made by a woman. Many web sites that offer products for sale appear to be male dominated. In the past, online shopping was dominated by men buying computer and technology related products. Things are changing now - and research by Interactive Media Retail Group suggests that there are already significant changes taking place. The highest proportion of people online now in the UK is women aged between 18 and 34. As the number of women online has grown, so too has Internet shopping. Indeed, IMRG predicts that within the next 18 months it will account for 20% of all retail in the UK. Considering this growth in online shopping is partly fuelled by increasing numbers of women on the Internet and the fact that many purchasing decisions are taken by women, isn
