The meeting of the Union Cabinet scheduled for today to take final decision on increasing petrol and diesel prices, in view of spurt in international oil prices, has been postponed. • New Adsense Payment Option - Western Union
When I was not here for nearly 4 months, there are many updates from Google Adsense. Though they may not be a hot and fresh announcement anymore, I think it worths to mention in this blog again which specifically talk about Google Adsense. If you are already familiar with these "updates", you can simply ignore these posts, and move forwards to the rest of my blog. The first update I am going to say is the new payment option - the Western Union. In addition to the existing payments like cheques and EFT, Western Union is the third option you can take, if you are within the designated countries. This is pretty much like EFT where only limited locations are available. You can now withdraw your earning in your Adsense account from Western Union within a day after your payment date. So you don't need to wait for 2-3 weeks for the check payment. Your Western Union Quick Cash payment will be made in US dollars. However, at most Western Union agents, you may be able to pick up your payment in you

  • Union Square Cafe
Believe it or not, I've never been to the famous Union Square Cafe Union Square Cafe. It's expensive, and at times very hard to get reservations, so somehow, it has slipped through, until today. My friend Lily and I made last minute plans for lunch there and it happens to be restaurant week (which I pay no attention to for dinner since I haven't been impressed the last few times). We had a very enjoyable lunch for a very good price so I'm sure to return to Union Square Cafe again, at least for lunch during restaurant week. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, just clean and comfortable, tables spaced apart nicely unlike most of NYC. The floors were slippery though and I almost fell twice. Three types of fresh bread, olives, and butter are presented at seating and water is delivered and refilled promptly. I was very happy with their 2008 restaurant week menu because there was four choices per course. I hate when there is only two choices for any of the courses and I've seen that often on res

  • Oxford Union organises debate to pay homage to Benazir
In an honour to slain former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto, the prestigious Oxford Union Debating Society organised a debate in her memory. The debate was attended by Benair’s former colleagues, students and friends, besides her 19-year-old son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is a first year student at Christ Church College, reported the Dawn. According to the traditions, such functions do not go the whole length and are adjourned to honour dead alumni who died an unnatural death, after a speech by a keynote speaker. But Benazir was honoured by organising a full-day debate. The last such instance when the debate was adjourned was in 1979 when Benazir’s father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged, said journalist and Bhutto’s family friend Victoria Schofield. Benazir, who studied at the St. Margaret College was President of the Oxford Union in 1977, and was the first Asian woma
  • Indian Union Minister takes stroll inside Pakistan without visa
Inadvertent crossing into Pakistan could take many years for an Indian to return home, but this is not the case with Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh, who crossed Indo-Pak border to take a stroll in neighbour's territory without any legal travel documents on Friday. Accompanied by some Indian officials, including Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, K S Pannu and some Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, Ramesh went up to the conference hall of Pakistan Ranges, about 40 yards inside Pakistan. Interestingly, the minister was not received by any of the Pakistani officials, in contrast to the protocol when a foreign high official visits another country. "I went only two steps and didn't go to Pakistan," said Ramesh, when asked how could he cross the international border without any legal papers. BSF Inspector General Arvind Ranjan said: "We don't allow common man to cross the border without visa or legal documents, but we ourselves go to attend the meetings a

  • Union-Tribune can't hide its 'business deal'
What’s the big secret behind the “business deal” between the San Diego Union-Tribune and radio station XTRA Sports 1360 AM?The Union-Tribune has its sportswriters on a daily (Monday-Friday) show from 10 am-noon, but here’s what you won’t read about in the supposedly tell-all Union-Tribune:The newspaper is paying $1,000 an hour to have its sportswriters on The Sports Page with Josh Rosenberg. As part of the deal, the Union-Tribune is selling ads for the show. Also, the sportswriters on the show do not receive any compensation for their time. That’s sure to build morale in the already-deteriorating newspaper business. The next time you hear (or see) the Union-Tribune collectively beating its chest for thinking it blows the whistle on others, just ask why the paper doesn’t blow the whistle on itself. This “business deal” is an example of the U-T thinking it is above the rules it sets for others.
  • The Collapse Of The Soviet Union Was Staged
You have to read all of this. In 1984 a book was published with the title New Lies for Old. It was written by Soviet KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn. The book claimed that the Soviet Union had a secret long-term strategy to disarm and defeat the United States through a controlled collapse of the Soviet empire that would take place in the last decade of the twentieth century. In the book's most remarkable chapter, titled "The Final Phase," Golitsyn accurately described the future of the Soviet bloc. Communism would give up its monopoly of power in Russia, he explained, as apparent freedom and democracy would be introduced. The communist Warsaw Pact alliance would be dissolved. The Berlin Wall might be taken down and Germany united as "the key to progress toward a neutral, socialist Europe." Controlled democratization and liberalization would be facilitated by communist agents within the dissident movements of Eastern Europe. As Golitsyn wrote, "the liberalization would be calculate
