  Tet, is the most important and popular holiday/festival in Vietnam. It's the celebration of the Vietnamese New Year which this year will be celebrated on February 7th. The largest Tet festival outside of Vietnam is located in Garden Grove and is a great family festival. There will be games, traditional entertainment, contests and plenty of food.The festival will be celebrating the Year of the Rat and is in it's 26th year. I plan on attending and from what I've heard from family and friends it's a must visit if you can. I hope to see you there!!   When my mom came back from a tour of Asia, she brought me some coffee and a filter from Vietnam. As I was making myself a cup this morning, I thought, everyone should have a Vietnamese coffee filter! It's perfect for one cup. (Lon doesn't drink coffee.) It takes up very little space and is easy to use. The inexpensive filter is available online so you don't need to go to Vietnam to get one.

  A lasting impression for any visitor to Vietnam is the beauty of the women dressed in their ao dais. Girls dressed in white pick their way through muddy streets going home from school or sail by in a graceful chatter on their bikes. Secretaries in delicate pastels greet you at an office door and older ladies in deep shades of purple, green or blue cut a striking pose eating dinner at a restaurant. The ao dai appears to flatter every figure. Its body-hugging top flows over wide trousers that brush the floor. Splits in the gown extend well above waist height and make it comfortable and easy to move in. Although virtually the whole body is swathed in soft flowing fabric, these splits give the odd glimpse of a bare midriff, making the outfit very sensual.   Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will hold Cultural Coffee Weeks this December to promote Vietnamese coffee, which has become increasingly popular on foreign markets.Ly Thanh Tung, director of the Commerce and Tourism Department in the Central Highlands province of Daklak, said the coffee weeks would showcase the history Vietnam’s high-yield beans, display farm models and demonstrate harvesting and processing techniques.Organized by Daklak provincial People’s Committee and sponsored by Vietnam’s leading coffee company Trung Nguyen, the event is an opportunity for some 20 coffee companies to cooperate in promoting their products.Daklak is the country’s leading coffee producing province with a yield of some 400,000 tons per year.The first coffee week will be held in Hanoi November 29-December 2 before HCMC’s event December 13-16.Source : Thanh Nien Daily Subscribe in a reader
