Today was voting day so no gym. However, voting went really fast. I was in and out in about 5 minutes!
I walked over the hill to my polling place and back - about 20 minutes round trip. When I got home I bounced on my rebounder
Dear Membership and Community,
This email has a simple message. Our state of Ohio is going to be crucial in the presidential primary election on March 4, 2008. The stage has been set. Will you cast a vote and be a part of history or not? This election is so historic, that if you have the opportunity to vote in this primary and do not participate, you will likely regret your decision not to participate.
Now that Super Tuesday has come and gone, the race is still on. It is said that this will be one of the closest fight's up to date on either side. The Republicans seem to favor McCain but you still can't count out Romney and Huckabee. The fact is that McCain has over half of the delegates needed while Romney and Huckabee are trailing with 400 to 500 delegates, if McCain can get a few more wins he is most likely going to be the candidate for the Republicans. On the Democratic side the race is still going strong. Allthough Clinton is ahead with 823 delegates against the 741 delegates of Obama, they both have a long way to go for their target of 2025 delegates. It is old versus young, not only in differences between the candidates but also in voters, Obama is pulling in many votes coming from the young voters, many who haven't voted before. We would like to invite you to come and discuss this topic further on our forum and share your view with the rest of us.
Brad Blog is reporting that NJ Governor John Corzine had to vote in a firehouse #3 in Hoboken. The two machines weren’t functional as voters were turned away and asked to come back. Corzine stayed and waited until one machine came to life while he cast his vote. (Which makes no sense [...]
Considering tomorrow I vote, it’s time to make an endorsement. It’s going to Hillary Clinton.Reason 1 – The (foreign policy) issuesI prefer Hillary Clinton’s positions to those of Barack Obama’s. I disagree with Mike Gravel’s positions so much that I won’t even mention his name in the rest of this article.Clinton has superior reasoning on nearly every major issue. Her positions on social issues may be slightly different than mine, but the president does not control domestic issues: Congress does.Instead, the president controls foreign policy and the military. Therefore, those are the most important issues in the presidential contest. Barack Obama doesn’t understand international issues as well as Clinton does. He would rather see the U.S. as a weaker state abroad; Clinton knows that the U.S. must sometimes project its power.Reason 2 – Hope is not as important as the issuesAs Massachusetts legislator Salvatore F. DiMasi put it, "To be perfectly honest, I really don't w
Nine days ago at an election eve rally at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, a Vietnam veteran, tears welling in his eyes, wildly shouted his support for Senator Barack Obama.
Two fellow vets helped him to his feet to join in a raucous standing ovation for Obama. That Vietnam veteran, Noah Coakley of Key West, FL, is a man of dignity and reserve, a man who served his country for 20
Voting for bypoll to Simaria Assembly seat in Jharkhand and Keskal Assembly seat in Chhattisgarh began today amidst tight security. While the Simaria Assembly seat fell vacant after the death of BJP member Upendra Nath Das, the by-election in Keskal was necessitated following the death of Mahesh Baghel (MLA) in a fatal road accident a couple of months ago. In Simaria, 14 candidates are in the fray. In Keskal, about one-and-a-half lakh voters are expected to cast their votes to decide the fate of five candidates. The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress are strong contenders for the Keskal Assembly seat. Out of the total 150 polling booths, 100 booths have been declared as sensitive in Keskal. Twenty-six companies of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure a free and fair election. Micro observers have also been pressed into service to oversee the polling process in 36 polling locations. (ANI)
I have been thinking about the importance of voting in elections for the right president. After dealing with the incompetent Bush administration it makes me realize how important it is to vote. If we had a different president would we have the loss of jobs, no money for schools, the war and even the attack of 911. I guess no one knows those answers for sure but it does make me think what if we had another president would life be different right now. What surprises me is that George W Bush was elected in the first place then selected again for a second term. I don’t hate George W Bush as person but I dislike him as President. I think he should be impeached but I know that will not happen with elections around the corner. The individuals who had a bad influence on him for most or all of the bad decisions made are Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. The George W Bush administration is one the worst we ever had in the United States at least in my short lifetime. - My Blog on Jimmy Carter St
These days, you'll see a spurt of competitions which includes singing, dancing and other talent hunts. These guys call judges who are fully settled in their respective fields. Yet, the results are based on people's votes through those SMSes and telephone lines. One of such talent hunts is the "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs" which features little kids aged 10-12 singing really very nicely and showing their matured behaviour on the stage. After each performance, the participants are rated and complimented by the judges. The people are then asked to vote through SMS and other media, on the basis of which the participants are eliminated one by one. This type of system exists in almost all talent hunts and is really frustrating. Sometimes, even the finest performers are eliminated, and even the judges express their grief indirectly(mostly) or indirectly. As Arshad Warsi said, 95% of the people don't understand the tune or the sur, as they call it. The song which sounds the best is applauded. Som
By Tim Gaynor MIAMI (Reuters) - Voting ended in a tight Florida presidential primary battle between Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney on Tuesday that could also spell an end to one-time favorite Rudy Giuliani's White House bid. McCain, an Arizona senator, and Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, are running neck-and-neck in polls in a Florida fight that could give the winner crucial momentum heading into the Feb. 5 "Super Tuesday" voting in 21 states with Republican presidential contests. It also could be the end for Giuliani, a former New York mayor who staked his campaign on a strong showing in Florida, but has struggled despite leading national polls for much of last year. Polls show Giuliani battling for a distant third place with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Giuliani was praised for his leadership in New York after the Sept. 11 attacks, but his campaign, focused on keeping the United States safe from terrorism, has faltered as he focused on F

In response to the recent endorsement of Dennis Kucinich by Sean Penn……
There was a time, during the 60's and 70's that we needed to address the government. Folks got to the point where they took to the streets to stand up against a crooked president and senseless war. We were respected for that. Now today, me make cutesy remarks about ca5 Zoom(s)
Two years ago, the military of Thailand overthrew the government of Prime Minister Thaskin Shinawatra on charges his rule threatened the success of democracy in their land. This weekend, voters made Thaskin’s People Power Party the most dominant in the incoming Thai legislature. Thaskin did extremely well in southern regions of the nation which contain [...]

In a press conference today, The Ohio Election Justice Campaign (OEJC) is calling for the recall, return, and refund of voting systems used in Ohio, the state that clinches presidential elections. Representatives from Boards of Elections (BOE) plagued by election irregularities, such as failing to preserve their 2004 ballots in violation of federal court order, are now sitting in review of the state’s electronic elections systems, courtesy of a lobbyist.
Do you love babies? Do you want to save the babies? Then you need to stop voting for conservatives.
When conservatives like George W. Bush get into office, they appoint other conservatives to positions in which they can do things that will result in the death of babies. Take, for instance, the appointment [...]

Does the current City Council really have broad support of the majority of Cincinnati citizens? Or is their total re-election merely an example of what goes wrong when voters do not use strategies for making their ballots more powerful? Last night, did City Council really receive a mandate to continue business as usual? Or did the effect of television saturation work as voters just filled ballots with recognizable names? All of our perspectives may be skewed by those with whom we surround ourselves, but I have a hard time believing that the City, as a whole, has been satisfied with the totality of the current council. I think it’s time to spread the word about power voting.
(I have no idea whether or not I'll be posting today, by the way.)Did you know that Halloween was "a liberal holiday"? Well, it must be, since Sean Hannity says it is here...Well, then how come "Deadeye Dick" got into the spirit? And here's a timely video from Paul Hipp of HuffPo about something near and dear to the heart (literally, I hope) of soon-to-be-confirmed AG Michael Mukasey (heck of a job again, Chuck and Di).(By the way, sorry about the video links not working from time to time; I fixed the Edwards/Clinton one yesterday. I'll try to watch that.)Update: More evidence that the Repugs "get" Halloween after all; Myers is extremely unqualified for the position anyway (h/t The Daily Kos)...
It’s only 62 days until the Iowa caucuses, when voting for the election of the next president of the United States begins.

Last week, I posted this item, which raised the question about Steve Black’s voting record. While he is running as a Democrat against Victoria Wulsin for Congress, word has it that Black spent his life as a registered Republican. (As a side note, this same article prompted a larger discussion about Steve Black’s ethnicity.) But more significant than the whiteness or blackness of his ancestors, it might be more significant to study his voting record.
Elections Canada has released the Advance Poll numbers for the three Quebec by-elections. The Roberval numbers are especially surprising, coming in at more than the previous General Election. Good news for the Conservatives. Contrary to popular belief, the Conservatives do better with a higher turnout.
Saint-HyacintheBagot comes in at just under the previous General Election results, while Outremont looks to be a snoozer. Not good news for the NDP.

Another warm and fuzzy moment brought to you by the people who stole the last election while you were watching Florida: Voting machines in Ohio permit officials to match voters to their votes.
In the news today Rudy Giuliani presidential candidate for Republican Party. His teenage Daughter Caroline age17 has declared on her Facebook page support for presidential candidate Barack Obama from the Democratic Party. Just because her dad is running for president does not mean she has to vote for him. I know is many rumors that she does not get along with her dad but that is another subject.Everyone is shocked that she is not voting for her dad but she is an individual. Her doing this makes me like her even more for the reason that she is her own independent woman. I like the fact that she is voting for who she wants. Everyone has the right to vote for anyone even her even if her father is running for president. Furthermore, who cares if she does not vote for her dad for the reason that she is not the candidate her dad is. - Books - Rudy Giuliani - Products - Election 08 - Try PhotoPost!
Was just reading through the recent newsletter for public officials, most Americans don't have a clue as to how bad our elections and voting system is, a short excerpt:Electronic Voting Systems Fail California’s Security TestingJuly-29-07On Friday, California released the results of the state’s extensive testing of electronic voting systems. State-sanctioned teams of computer specialists were able to break through the security of every model of voting machine and change results or take control of some of the systems' electronic functions. Some county elections officials in the state voiced concerns about the study, saying they worry that they could be forced to junk millions of dollars in voting machines if the California Secretary of State decertifies them for the February election.Well.. what's more important to *some* elections officials, honest and accurate elections or using the black box voting machines they purchased that are universally "lemons" by design because to do othe
The Unity08 official presidential process has begun. Since I am a registered delegate to Unity08, the registered corporation has sent me a personalized link to complete the first round of voting on what they call “the American Agenda” — the list of issues that are considered “critical” by members.
The way Unity08 has asked which issues are “critical” is very, hmm, interesting, and I’ll talk about that in a little while. But first I’d like to talk about process. Because Unity08 has now commenced with its procedure to select a presidential and a vice presidential candidate, with initial voting beginning already, it has become important to know how and with what security and safeguards Unity08 is proceeding.
It’s not just me saying that Unity08 has started off with its presidential decision-making procedure; Unity08 says so itself. Its e-mail inviting delegates to follow their individualized links reads, “It’s
This civil rights news item from Raw Story probably went under most news radar screens, during a week when the Senate was in overnight session to attempt to overcome a Republican block on withdrawing troops from Iraq.
