Well my friends, it has gotten cold here in the "Ole Dominion" for a change. We just went to eat a Chili's and it was 45 degrees. We are supposed to be stuck in this weather pattern for a while longer. So i guess that we are finally going to get into winter here. It is about time if you as k me. We still need rain and lots of it but with the cooler weather water will not be such a factor here. People will stop watering their lawns and consumption will go down. I turned my sprinklers off about 2 weeks ago and cut the lawn down very low. We have had several freezes since then and hopefully the grass will stop growing. I do not want to have to cut the lawn again this year! That's a very rare self portrait of me. I never take them, and when I do they're usually not quite recognizable. It doesn't really look like me and neither does it look unlike me. Either way, there it is.You'll often hear me complaining about the weather because I feel it can have a positive or negative impact on my mental (and physical) well-being. For the last several months it's been a negative impact, usually, since I live in Texas and the summers here are brutal. However, after a 91 degree day yesterday, Summer seems to have ended overnight. It was in the 40's last night, and now it is 52 degrees and raining. As summer slowly seeps into autumn, the nights cool off and our heaters come on. Our dogs' coat starts to get a bit thicker in preparation for the cold months ahead. Last Night I went to see the football team I support, Charlton Athletic play the First Round of The Carling League Cup at Swindon Town's County ground. It's come to my attention that maybe my post about the weather was not as complete as it could have been. And this pertains to air conditioning. I mentioned that I had no desire or need for A/C, but should have mentioned that our primary residence has a small park in the front and a small parking area in the back, both areas with many trees to moderate the temperature. And we live on the third floor and benefit from the shade immensely. If we lived on the fifth floor or above, I'd be singing a different story since we'd be above the tree line. Malacanang just announced that it has suspended classes at all levels in Metro Manila and several Luzon provinces on Thursday (9 Aug) due to continued bad weather, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said Wednesday evening.
