Alright so for reasons beyond my comprehension, I was cruising the OC today. I guess I figured I'd find a meaning of life buried deep within the pretensions and Mercedes'. Needless to say I didn't find it, but I did find an amazing little cafe by the name of Einsteins Bros. Bagels in Irvine [1]. They don't have these in LA and I've never encountered anyone who'd been here, so it was a great surprise. Apparently Einsteins has quite a few locations in New York and other parts of the country, so if you want to check out the menu or have a nice, quite bagel sandwich with -- amazing! -- coffee, go to their webbie here [2]. Oh any by the way. It is Friday night y'all.

Vampire Weekend's debut has been out for almost two weeks now and I've little backlash for the supposedly "overhyped" and "overrated" band. Here is what a few of the critics are saying.
Fully realized debut albums like Vampire Weekend come along once in a great while, and these songs show that this band is smart, but not too smart for their own good. - All Music Guide
This is likely to be the most fun release of the year. - Under The Radar
This is a magnificent debut, filled with endless melodies, memorable hooks and plenty of toe-tapping moments. - Delusions of Adequacy
Bring any baggage you want to this record, and it still returns nothing but warm, airy, low-gimmick pop, peppy, clever, and yes, unpretentious--four guys who listened to some Afro-pop records, picked up a few nice ideas, and then set about making one of the most refreshing and replayable indie records in recent years. - THE Pitchfork [1]
But there has been some critics who didn'

If thats not an eye-catching email title, I don't know what is. The first thing that came to my head was "who the fuck is Puppetbox?" Well thankfully Mr. Payne, Puppet's guitarist isn't an idiot and left me a myspace [1] link to click. Let Puppetbox [2] introduce themselves.Puppetbox is a band. They are currently under the radar. In fact, both the radar and the band are unaware of each other. The band plays electro, rock, shoegazer, geek, pop music - and the radar continues to serve as a [3] metaphor for bands that have made lots of money versus those that will forever be "emerging." In case you were wondering about the name of the band, puppetbox is either a device to control the minds of the hapless proletariat, OR we actually have a box full of puppets, both are probably illegal in Texas. The band recorded their last album in Zamunda, the Chateau de la Prétentieux, and with the hottest Japanese producer, ??? in Tokyo. Now that we know a bit about these three Brooklynites, lets crac

Rock Band DLC and Rock Your Weekend tooFiled under: News, Xbox Live MarketplaceAvailable for download off the Xbox Live Marketplace right this very moment are all three promised Rock Band DLC tracks that were announced yesterday. And even though the new KISS, B-52s and Faith No More tracks aren't all that rocktacular, they're still part of the Rock Band DLC legacy and for that, we love 'em all the same. Complete and detailed Rock Band DLC info is outlined after the break. The other piece of today's Rock Band news is word that a special Rock Your Weekend event will be kicking off this Friday, February 8th, run through the 10th and feature ... well, we aren't certain. For whatever reason, the official Rock Your Weekend Xbox.com page hasn't been uploaded yet, so we aren't sure what Rock Your Weekend will entail. Though, we're sure there's some sort of Play & Win component to it all seeing that U.S. and Canadian Live members are able to download a free set of (quite sexy) Rock Band
We made a trip to Baltimore Maryland for a Cheering Contest. We have been doing lots of traveling as of late but now we will be home for a few months before out next trip. I took a bunch of pics with the cam phone and have loaded them on my Fickr page. We went to the Inner Harbor in BaltimoreWe did a 4 ship tour, The U.S.S. Constellation, The USCGC Taney, Chesapeake Lightship, The USS Torsk (submarine) plus The Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse, and i have some pics of them. We went to the Baltimore Aquarium and it was AMAZING! I have been to several aquariums around the country and this one was the best. We ate at the Hardrock Cafe and went to several stores around the harbor. The city was very clean and i was really impressed with it. If you get a chance, go and see it for yourself! What is your opinion?Blogroll Me!Subscribe to my Posts...

Michigan and Michigan State: As the winter goes along, Big 10 basketball remains a rumor to me. Though it turned out not having an opportunity to watch Michigan State somehow lose to bottom feeder Penn State was doing me a solid. By losing to both Iowa and Penn St., the Spartans are doing their damnedest to piss away a 1 or 2 seed, and a chance to play at Ford Field in the NCAA's.Spartans Weblog has already kissed off any chances at their winning the Big 10 title...I now consider our chances of winning the Big Ten title to be precisely zero. We’ve played four conference road games now–all against the bottom six teams in the conference–and come away just 2-2. We have five conference road games remaining–four of them against the four other top-tier teams in the conference plus a game against an Illinois team that easily could have beaten us Wednesday night. We’ll be lucky to win two of those five games. There's always the Big 10 tournament, right? Let's hope Tom Izzo can pull
Yes, I admit this wasn't the first time I'd forgotten an important event. Let's not get hung up on that. What's important is that I quickly and admirably redeemed myself. Once the florist came to deliver the white dendrobium (I collect orchids) and I read the note -- "Happy Anniversary. Love, J" -- I immediately jumped into action.
Don’t we all love your New Yorker Music Sluts? They have a little ol’ blog segment called MMM (Monday MP3 Madness), and its simply divine! The 3D concert movie ‘Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds’ ruled the US box office over the weekend grossing 29 million dollars. Second on the list was horror pic ‘The Eye’ starring Jessica Alba that took in 13 million dollars, according to figures by Exhibitor Relations. Katherine Heigl’s romantic comedy ‘27 Dresses’ came in at number three on the list with an earning of 8.4 million dollars. Jeniffer Garner and Oscar nominee starrer ‘Juno’ and epic spoof ‘Meet the Spartans’ rounded off the top five coming in fourth and fifth place with an earning of 7.5 million dollars and 7.1 million dollars respectively. The list of the top ten grossing films over the weekend as per Exhibitor Relations is: 1. Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, $29 million 2. The Eye, $13 million 3. 27 Dresses, $8.4 million 4. Juno, $7.5 million 5. Meet the Spartans, $
It's been a while since I've posted a Weekend Remix mix, so here's to kicking things off again! There are always some great remixes out there to grab up and drop into your iPod before the party starts. Has there been a more boring Detroit sports weekend in recent memory? The Tigers and Lions are in a state of off season limbo, the Pistons have been off since Thursday, and the Red Wings are idle thanks to the NHL being on their All-Star break. The only sports event of interest was Michigan taking on Michigan State, as the rivalry moved from the football field to the basketball court. But that game, as we all expected, was a Sparty beatdown...The only game going on in Michigan, other than the blow out in East Lansing, was the media playing "Where's Kwame?" When the silhouette of Detroit's slick, philandering, embattled, currently in hiding mayor being visible inside the Manoogian Mansion is big news, you know there's not much going on.Let's break down the weekend that was in Detroit sports...College basketball: Sparty continued their dominance over the Wolverines on the hard wood, with a 77-62 win that wasn't as close as 15 point difference.Spartans Weblog has the game recap, and though
Yes, it is my first time in weekend snapshot! So, the usual weekend, we watched a movie! The producer of BEE MOVIE should thank McDonald's or the other way around? Well, my kid saw the BEE MOVIE commercial on TV and he said that he would like to watch that. After watching, he wanted to collect all those characters at McDonald's Happy Meal.Actually, there are six but we only got five!Well, the movie is good because it tells about balance in this world. How we are created to be of service to our community , to others and to ourselves.Just like what I would like to tackle in this blog- health in all aspects of life-emotional, physical, spiritual, social, and all kinds. To view other participants, please click on the button or go to http://ws.boarderhost.com/.Have a great week!
Aptly for a Saturday lunchtime, here's an ITV Chart Show indie chart run down. Besides our main focus, Ride, doing Twisterella, you'll also get fellow Thames Valley Scenesters (vague concept copyright the Face, 1992) doing Venice. Sadly, this was when the producers had abandoned the response to not having a video of showing footage of the middle of a record label spinning round and round. There's also a glimpse of Piotr from Adorable...[Part of The Ride Weekend]
I think it's probably fair to say that, of all the bands I've given my heart to, Ride are the ones who probably changed my life, and its velocity and vectors, to the greatest extent. Clearly, it all ended it tears - and Andy Bell's subsequent work for Oasis has been heartbreaking (like having the world's greatest pastry chef operating the machine to squirt the filling into Mr Kipling's fruit pies) - but there was a time, from the first appearance on Sunb TV to roughly the dying moments of OX4, where they were just about perfect. So, then: a weekend with Ride. Kicking off with Dreams Burn Down, live in the Brixton Academy, 1992.More across the weekend; they'll be listed here as they go upTwisterella from the ITV Chart ShowVapour Trail live in MadridBuyer's Guide:Nowhere - a 2006 remastering of the debut album (and, frankly, their greatest work)Waves: The BBC Sessions - most essential for their Dead Can Dance coverBox Set - contains a best of, a b-sides collection, and a live albumSmile -

Michigan and Michigan State basketball - I heard a rumor that Michigan State and Michigan both played over the weekend. But it's an unconfirmed rumor, as their games were nowhere to be found on my TV. Head to Spartans Weblog and UMHoops for their views on the rumored games I don't even know were being played. Thanks a shitload, Big 10 Network...Terrelle Pryor - Did you hear the the nation's number 1 QB recruit was in A2 this weekend?! That the future of Wolverines football hangs in the balance?! If you believe the hype, Pryor's committing to Michigan will allow Rich Rodriguez's offense to hit the ground running. (Pun intended)MGoBlog has the latest on the Pryor visit, and opines what most fans are thinking...Pryor obviously wants maximum drama and is going to get it on Signing Day.The kid definitely knows what he's doing, and is milking his recruiting for all that it's worth. According to the National Weather Service this weekend will be the coldest for the year so far in the cities of Vancouver and Portland and all over Southern Washington. Already, around Vancouver and the outlying areas we are seeing ponds freezing over indicating how cold the weather has been. Well, now this weekend it will be colder.

Hello Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my blog, Stock Picks Bob's Advice! As always, please remember that I am an amateur investor, so please remember to consult with your professional investment advisers prior to making any investment decisions based on information on this website. In the midst of this market 'meltdown', it is still business as usual on this blog. My portfolio investment strategy is kicking in as it has been for the last several weeks. As stocks decline, if they reach sale points they are sold and not replaced. I am now down to 9 positions and could conceivably drop to 5 positions (my minimum) well below the maximum of 5 positions.I have attempted to accomplish several things on this blog simultaneously. For one, I have been listing many investment 'ideas' that I would find suitable for purchase. In addition, I have outlined my own ideas of portfolio management wit
NFC CHAMPIONSHIPNY Giants at GB PackersIt has been almost a decade since my dad and I got to watch a Packer game this important and I couldn't be more excited! When I look at Giants’ newfound success it seems hard to pinpoint just because it’s so newfound and a little mysterious. When I look at their game against Dallas I find it necessary to mention the fact that they only ran 44 offensive plays in a game. That is ridiculously low. Their longest drive was eight plays long and ended in a punt. Their time of possession was 23:30. The Cowboys actually outgained them by over 100 yards. The G-Men were efficient on offense and scored touchdowns instead of field goals, with no turnovers. But they won with defense, especially that nasty pass rush that had Romo so rattled in the fourth quarter. The Packers can shut down everything the Giants did well in the Divisional Round. You think Charles Woodson and Al Harris won't eat Little Manning for dinner? Do you think the Packers will sacrifice
It’s a tale of two lawyers who were like any other legal professionals till July last year, but suddenly rose to fame after they decided to defend Indian doctor Dr Mohammad Haneef, who was falsely implicated for having links with terrorists. During the nearly six-month long battle, the two lawyers – Peter Russo and Stephen Keim – attracted much media attention as they gave innumerable TV interviews defending their client. The best recognition for the duo came when they were named The Weekend Australian's Australians of the Year, this weekend. Commenting on being selected for the honour, Keim said: "The suggestion that Peter and I would be Australians of the Year, for being two ordinary lawyers doing their ordinary work, seems ridiculous." He, however, added: "But the ordinary work that ordinary lawyers do all the time is exceedingly important work and if the publicity that Peter and I have got helps people recognise the importance of that work, then

Detroit Pistons: The Pistons finished off a rough, 4 games in 5 days, swing through Texas, then to parts east, ending in an ugly loss in New York Sunday night.Detroit Bad Boys puts into words what certain sports talk radio hosts couldn't, that it was just "one of those games."Maybe the team was caught looking past the Knicks, or maybe the dreaded “complacency” bug reared it’s ugly head. Or maybe, and this is the most likely scenario, the team simply entered the game on fumes and ran out of gas early. It was their fourth game in five nights, and for whatever it’s worthy their arrival to NYC on Saturday night/Sunday morning was pushed back when the Bobcats game went into overtime. If the rest of us mortals had to keep the insane travel schedules of NBA teams, we'd be running on fumes after 1 game, let alone 4. All in all, I'll take a 2-2 Pistons road trip that includes games against the Mavericks and Spurs. The Pistons beat the Bobcats in OT Saturday night, and the silliest thing

I'm trying something new with today's "Above the Fold." Every Monday I'm going to look back at the weekend, taking a look at each local team. Let's see how it goes... Detroit Pistons:The Pistons lost their rematch with the Boston Celtics Saturday night, 92-85.. From all reports, the Celtics treated the matchup like game 7 of a playoff series, while the Pistons claimed they treated it as just another game. Considering Detroit's mistake filled 4th quarter, they actually treated the game like last season's game 6 against the Cavaliers. As Nat does after every game, Need4 Sheed breaks out the bullet points. One being Flip Saunders odd non-use of Jason Maxiell, who was dominant in the 1st half. And I agree, Garnett was not fouled...I love McDyess, but he was a dud last night and Maxiell was HOT. Please tell me why Flip didn't ride the hot hand. We know the players do it on the floor, why didn't our coach? It was Jason who sparked the Pistons to a 17-0 run in the first. He finished with 13 p
