  • Panasonic designs Wii-proof plasmas - SendMeRSS
Gagan: The incidents of breaking screens of TVs with Wii remotes are getting all too commonplace. Panasonic has decided to take matters into its own hands and has designed a new breed of plasma TVs with tough screens. It didn’t take a world of tinkering though since plasmas are more rigid than other TVs anyway. A bit of twitching and TVs were Wii-proof. The specially designed display is resistant up to 4 joules. Joule translated roughly refers to energy required to lift an apple 2 meters in the air. Figure that out! Panasonic didn’t come out all bragging in Valencia but backed its design with a LCD panel all smashed up by Wii. So, if you’re fond of your Wii and occasionally have a strong urge to hurl it at your TV, go for Panasonic’s sturdy plasmas. Wii Warm Up: New pew pew pewFiled under: Wii Warm Up If there's one thing the Wii has plenty of, it's scrolling shooters, vertical and horizontal. Thanks to the Virtual Console, the Wii has probably the best library of shmups in history. You can go play something like Lords of Thunder or Blazing Lazers right now without even having to go to a store first. That's pretty compelling. Which means that original disc-based shooters actually face a lot of competition from the VC. If you're just now discovering that you love shooters, you can get some of the best ones ever made for a few bucks. That could mean trouble for Castle of Shikigami III, Monkey King and Blast Works. If you like shooters, are you content with the vintage offerings? Do you feel that there's enough of a reason to continue checking out the new games, or have you been reveling in undiscovered classics?Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments Ads by Google Link - Comments

NPD: PS3 nearly matches Wii, outsells 360 in JanuaryFiled under: Business Looks like PS3 really is gaining momentum. January showed some incredible performance for Sony's newest home console, as it was able to beat its major competitor, the Xbox 360. In fact, it almost sold as much as the Wii, falling short only a measly 5k systems for the month. Here are the numbers: - Wii: 274K - PS3: 269K- PS2: 264K - DS Lite: 251K - Xbox 360: 230K - PSP: 230KThere's still a long way to go in this console war, but January has been quite favorable for Sony. Will Sony be able to capitalize on this newfound momentum? With a killer line-up of games for the rest of year, we'd like to think so. • Will Brawl fall to the Wii's casual focus? - SendMeRSS
Will Brawl fall to the Wii's casual focus?Filed under: News An interesting opinion piece by JC Barnett popped up on GameSetWatch yesterday, which covered the familiar area of the general lack of success of "hardcore" games on the Wii, specifically in Japan. Barnett's prime example is No More Heroes, which, despite being hyped like crazy (and also despite being really awesome) totally bombed. A "punk rock game" from Suda 51 isn't really prime hit material, being somewhat niche by design, but Barnett uses this as an example of a game that doesn't fit with the Wii audience. He then wonders out loud if Super Smash Bros. Brawl will actually sell as well as we all think it will. "It is hardcore, but it is popular hardcore. But is it a fit for the Wii audience? My guess is: not so much." He expects a fairly strong first month with a large drop-off, much like Super Mario Galaxy. In other words, it'll sell well, but not as well as a DS game about petting a dog. We've heard a lot of talk abou

Wii serves over 5 million in JapanFiled under: News In little over 60 weeks, the Wii console has managed to sell over 5 million units in its home territory of Japan. As impressive as this is, it falls short of the DS, which achieved sales figures of this nature in 56 weeks. But, the Wii did manage to beat the PS2, which cracked the 5 million mark after 66 weeks on the market.A system is only so good as its games though, right? Well, in Japan the games pushing the Wii are Wii Sports (2.6 million copies sold as of now), Wii Play (2.1 million copies sold as of now), Mario Party 8 ( 1.1 million copies sold as of now) and Wii Fit (1.1 million copies sold as of now). Super Mario Galaxy comes in fifth place in the country, only selling a total of 843,961 copies.Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments Ads by Google Link - Comments - David Hinkle - Wed, 23 Jan 2008 17:00:00 GMT - Feed (10 subs) japan marioparty8 mp8

  • Nintendo Wii as a Fitness Tool
There are a lot of stories about the health benefits obtained from playing the all popular video game console Nintendo Wii. Let us try and think about whether or not the wii as a fitness tool can be effective or not! In my personal view I truly believe that it is although there are some notions that we still need to keep in mind. Wii as a fitness tool is basically linked to a cardio workout and we all know that the best fitness programs out there need to be made out of cardio and resistence training with a combination of nutrition. This basically means that the Wii alone is not a good fitness tool but it can add to your workout an interesting, fun and maybe important element.A good cardio workout must also come with involving an elevated heart rate that is sustained and you must use as much of your entire body as you can. This means that not a lot of games on the Wii will aid you in obtaining a good fitness cardio workout. Probably the best one out there at this point in time is Wii Bo

Dave Wolf, General Manager at a Best Buy near Baltimore, said that he chose not to display any Wii in the shop, in stead employees walk around and tell people they have them in stock. This way they could avoid mob scenes.   (more…) News, Nintendo Wii, Wii Link - Comments - Spooky - Thu, 27 Dec 2007 03:27:54 GMT - Feed (1 subs) News Wii News Nintendo Wii Wii Visit here to subscribe to these comments Sent using SendMeRss.com. • Ds Nintendo Wii Accidents And Injuries (Ds Ninetendo,Ninetendo Ds)
The Ds Ninetendo is a revolutionary new games console utilizing state-of-the-art technology to enhance the game playing experience. It enables the players to really feel and experience the game using its remote controllers. However, it appears people are getting a little too carried away and accidents are happening. It would appear that the Wii has two very good uses. You can play great games and totally immerse yourself in the action, but also clear your house of unwanted breakable items if placed in the vicinity of the game player. The cause of all this mayhem seems to revolve around the rather loose fitting strap supplied by Ds Ninetendo, which does not appear to be up to the task of stopping the remote flying off your wrist and heading for the nearest breakable object during game play, or if you are extremely unlucky, straight into your television screen. Ds Nintendo has recognized the problem and are delivering stronger wrist straps to outlets where people can exchange their old one
  • The Nintendo Wii Is A Gaming Revolution (Ds Ninetendo,Ninetendo Ds)
It has been three decades since the first home video game systems started to appear on store shelves and in living rooms. In the passing years those games have become increasingly more sophisticated. Long gone are the rough hewn square graphics and the clumsy sound modulation that many of us remember fondly. In their place are sound and graphics that can imitate life, and games that move quickly and perform much like reality. Up until now, the realistic game performances were reserved for the action on the screen, but with the introduction of the Ds Ninetendo Wii, the action has leapt into our living rooms as we become part of the Nintendo Wii game experience. The Nintendo Wii lets us become part of the game in a way never before seen. Instead of the joystick and buttons that have been a staple of video game play since the days of Atari, the Nintendo Wii uses infrared technology to communicate with a wireless remote control, and it is the remote control of the Nintendo Wii that separate
