Bionic Commando remake coming to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PCThe latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed that Capcom will release (in Japan this spring) a remake of the NES platformer Bionic Commando as a download on the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade, the PS3’s PlayStation Network and the PC. The game will include a two-player mode and new graphics. The original Japanese version of 1988’s Bionic Commando for the NES was called Top Secret: Hitler’s Revival and had you fighting futuristic Nazis, with the final boss being Adolf Hitler. In America the game was renamed Bionic Commando: Master D Revival Plan and all references to Nazism were removed and the final boss’ name was changed to “Master-D,” even if he still resembled the evil one. — Via Teamxbox Watch a video of the original Bionic Commando: A new Bionic Commando game is set to make a return in 3D later this year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. • Xbox Live balloons to 10 Million subscribers - SendMeRSS
Xbox Live balloons to 10 Million subscribersFiled under: News, Xbox LiveLast night, Microsoft proudly gloated to the masses that they've reached another Xbox Live milestone a full six months prior to their forcast by telling everyone that Xbox Live now has 10 million subscribers. 10 million! The total amount of subscribers does take into account both Gold and Silver accounts and is a worldwide total. Now, if we were to do a little "how much money does Microsoft make off of Xbox Live subscriptions" calculation and say that if (theoretically) only 40% of all Live accounts are Gold and are subscribing at $50 a year, then Microsoft is making roughly ... $200 million. And that's if only 4 out of 10 million subscribers pay. With all that money one would think Xbox Live would be up and running normally 99% of the time, but as you can tell, it's still semi-borked. Oh well, at least we're 10 million strong and have the capability of starting the world's largest riot if necessary. And that's

Omega Five Hits Xbox Live Next Week It's not often we see original Japanese games hitting Xbox Live Arcade, but Hudson has announced that next week will see Omega Five take its bow on the download service. The crazy side-scrolling shooter, developed by Natsume, will be available for $10 on Wednesday, January 9. We played an early version of the game at Hudson's office last year. I'm not sure whether this will be considered total genius or completely unplayable. It's a wild card, for sure! Can't wait to try out the final version. The character in the screenshot above is a newly-unveiled addition to the roster, called "R.A.D." • Xbox Live Service Finally Back to Normal - SendMeRSS
Xbox Live Service Finally Back to Normal After several days of slow, spotty, or just plain no service, it seems that Xbox Live is finally back to normal. Microsoft has yet to reveal what caused the problems, simply posting a notice that Live is "up and running." Though subscribers are undoubtedly happy to have Live service back, more than one may be miffed that they paid for a week of service that they didn't get. According to The BitBag, Microsoft "will definitely be doing something for our Gold members that weren't able to get online over the last week." • Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Stalking Via Xbox Live - SendMeRSS
Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Stalking Via Xbox Live According to a local news agency, Spokane Police recently arrested a 20-year-old New York man who allegedly traveled cross-country to stalk and harass a 15-year-old girl he met while playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live. Joshua Stetar had allegedly been sending flowers and gifts to the girl's home, along with thousands of text messages, before deciding the best course of action would be to drive 40 hours to Spokane to see the girl in person. Police say that on arrival, Stetar began driving by the young girl's home, while sending text messages detailing his obsessive activities. When this wasn't enough to make everyone nearby feel like they needed to take a shower for a week, Stetar sent the girl a text message saying "Tell the cops that I'm gonna rape you and your sister," police said.Unsurprisingly, Spokane police arrested the man a short time later at a local Econo Lodge. Stalker debuts on Xbox Live, goes game over and gets arrested While Xbox Live is obviously meant to game, chat and make friends, it’s rare you get such a good warning to be careful who you talk to. In Spokane, Washington, a 20-year-old American man was arrested on felony stalking charges after chatting to a 15-year-old girl on Xbox Live and eventually threatening to rape the girl and her sister. Joshua Stetar of Saratoga Springs, New York met the girl by playing Halo and chatting with her online since 2006. Gamerush reports he sent packages and flowers to her home, all of which her parents returned. He also began text messaging her several hundred times on her cell phone, forcing the girl's mother to change her daughter's number. Let’s not go into the freaky details how he found out where she lives, but after the crazy nut drove for 40 hours straight to get from New York to Spokane, then at around 9PM Friday last week Stetar sent a text message saying that he was driving by

To everybody that has said these things to females online in the past and to those of you that will be saying them in the future, please come up with some new material. A demo for the already-released NHL 2K8 has been made available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. If you’ve been holding out to decide between 2K8 and 08, now you’ll be able to compare the demos and see which tickles your fancy. The critical reception for NHL 2K8, which released on September 11, has been an overall “meh,” with the game’s supposedly revolutionary new right analog stick controls being seen as a step backwards more than anything else. In the demo, which weighs in at 1GB, you’ll be able to try out that new control scheme, along with the new face off and goaltending systems.
