  • Wolstenholme Yacht Design
Another designer with some neat designs... Andrew Wolstenholme has produced a wide variety of designs ranging from award winning production powerboats to classic launches and traditional craft for sail and oar, with several thousand examples of these boats to be seen around the world. I especially liked the Wheelyboat Mk III - it looks like a miniature landing craft and is designed for use by wheelchair bound fishermen on European rivers and lakes... neat idea and a great way of letting a mobility impared person continue to enjoy the water! His 57-60' Cruising Barge design are some gorgeous craft... I love that European/Dutch Barge look!

  • Electric Yacht
Electric Yacht Company is a small, privately held business which designs and builds electric propulsion systems for boats. We have had our systems under development for several years, and are nearing production status. Our primary focus at present is retrofit installations on sailboats (mono-hulls and cats) up to around 35 feet. We currently have prototype systems in operation and are planning to launch a beta program soon. Here's another place where electric power and retrofits are beginning to make headway. They are staying fairly simple it looks like, keeping existing shafts and changing out the engine for an electric motor. Nice retrofit for a lot of sail craft. I particularly want to point out the video they have recently posted of one of their project boat's conversion. The text discusses the wind charger, batteries and support gear being used, while the video shows some of the gear involved and the outcome... very nice.

The Stono River property is being redeveloped by IBG Partners LLC, part of a Washington, D.C., firm that is also developing the 500-acre Rushland Plantation, an upscale residential community off River Road. St. Johns Yacht Harbor will have about 400 boat slips, a waterfront pool and Jacuzzi, and a snack bar with facilities for cooking fresh caught fish, among other amenities. A Captain’s Retreat will be perched above the marina and fuel dock, where boaters will have Internet access, television, gaming tables and satellite weather and navigational equipment for charting courses. The community also plans a cluster of townhomes, which will be located on the north end of the property, formerly Buzzard&rsqu
