  • Lean concepts and software development – Example from Yahoo! Mail
I have been using Yahoo! Mail for last four to five years. I first started using it when they offered 4 MB of storage. It grew to few hundreds MB and then to 1GB and now they provide unlimited storage. Not only the storage impressed me their user friendly interface and ability to read RSS easily and closer look to MS Outlook, possibility to synchronize are features I really enjoy. Later it was fixed and on their blog they share how. I think this is an application of lean thinking (whether they knew it or not) in software development.According the blog initially yahoo mail tried loading every feature when it is launched on the browser. So it had to take lot of time in loading. But later they have broken down the loadi

  • Gmail custom domain vs Yahoo mail
Since I've bought bridgetonova.com domain, I haven't setup up any email addresses yet. Of course, my domain registrar provide Forward Email for free of charge, but I want POP3 access. So I am shopping for email services. Yahoo! provide these email services. But when I checked for Gmail, it's free! (Link) Not only Google provide this services for free, but also far more better than Yahoo! Services. While Yahoo! provide only 1 or 10 email addresses for either $34.95/year or $9.95/mo, Google provide 100 email addresses for free. Yes! that's right 100 email addresses for your domain.Without any hesitation, I've already signed up with Google. Now you can contact me at jason at mydomain name. I'm really wondered is there anyone who would buy Yahoo! email services.

So a couple of bugs are expected in the software. Any way, we are well aware of the fact that many professional softwares are released with many un-handled open bugs. And this is after all a Beta release. How ever, before coming to the bug in
