Welcome to your Morning Cuppa for February 6th, 2008
Today is National Frozen Yogurt Day
I remember the first time I heard the words "Frozen Yogurt". I was just shy being a teenager then, and it did not sound like a good idea at all! I'm honestly glad that the producers f these treats have proven me wrong over the…
This one's super easy to make, plus it's low fat and delicious. The yogurt in the original is very sweet and creamy, like Yoplait. So that's the brand that you should use, although any brand of vanilla yogurt will work fine. If you use Yoplait, you'll need two 6-ounce containers of the stuff per serving. For the granola, just look for one that contains mostly oats. It should be crunchy and sweet (such as "maple" flavor) and can also include puffed rice bits. You can even make these a day or two ahead of time. Keep them covered in the fridge, and hold off on the granola topping until you serve 'em up or it'll get mighty soggy.4 cups vanilla-flavored low-fat yogurt (or 8 6-ounce containers of Yoplait)2 10-ounce boxes sliced strawberries with sugar added, thawed1/3 cup frozen blueberries, thawed 1/2 cup crunchy, sweet granola1. Pour 1/2 cup of yogurt into a parfait cup or tall glass.2. Add 1/2 cup of strawberries into the glass on top of the yogurt.3. Add 1 tablespoon of blueberries to th
Yogurt is one of those versatile foods that is not only delicious to eat, but easy to work into your daily snacks and meals. Now we have found out that it also can help with your weight loss.Yogurt provides essential nutrients including the calcium that needed to build healthy bones. If you eat 3 servings of low-fat dairy products, including yogurt, it helps with losing weight instead of just cutting calories without dairy. It has been shown in studies that people who add dairy into their daily regimen lost an average of 22% more body weight than people who just dropped their calories without adding dairy. They also lost 61% more body fat. Most importantly they lost a whopping 81% more fat from their middle sections - the fat that has been known to cause serious health problems. Honestly, it isn't quite known how dairy calcium helps to promote weight loss, but one theory is that dairy plays a role in mobilizing stored fat.Yogurt also is a good source for protein which is perfect for pe

I moved out here along the time of the Pinkberry craze. I had heard of the long lines outside of the dessert shops and kept meaning to try it and then finally two sprouted up near my hood in the Westside. Raphael and I went this weekend and yes, there was a line but it went quick. The store is small and narrow similar to NYC's Tastey Delight stores (minus the kick ass chocolate flavors). However, the shops are very modern and Hello Kitty-ish in style. The branding is everywhere from their fun colorful logo to brainwashing songs that play on the radio spelling out Pinkberry in a girlish voice--very weird. They also have cool lights and weird kitchen objects on display and for sale. I think the reason why they have been so successful in L.A. is because of the buzz (some good PR work there!), long lines and low fat "yogurt" credibility. At 25 calories per ounce, a small serving (5 oz) has 125 calories, a medium serving (8 oz) has 200 calories, and a large s

Thanks to Brian for bringing this dreadful ad campaign to our attention. I feel so strongly about it I just had to do a Soapbox post on the topic. I don’t care that it is in Brazil and not here in the U.S. - wrong is wrong no matter where it happens.
Let me start by saying I think the women in the pictures are awesome, beautiful and sexy. And I’m not upset about the photos - they are totally cool.
But what Fit & Light Yogurt has done with their ad tagline is so distasteful I am boycotting their product. I am a fan of their yogurts - but NOT any more!
They have 3 ads (that I know of) that feature lovely curvy women replacing the original actresses in the scenes from famous movies, with the tag line “Forget about it. Men’s preference will never change. Fit & Light Yogurt.”
All three ad photos.

Due to my recent round of heath issues, this round of Your Pantry or Mine has gotten off to a slow start. I want to apologize to everyone who’s been waiting, it took me a few days to get back into the swing of things.
This round of Your Pantry or Mine highlights the ingredients in dew’s pantry, which was more challenging because it holds almost the same ingredients I have in mine, with the exception of just those few I would have normally used to finish off a dish.
With this in mind, and the fact that dew appeared to have an eye for healthy fare, (and an allergy to nuts) I decided that the first round of Your Pantry or Mine, No. 2 should be something on the lighter side, using the freshest ingredients from her list.
