The Los Angeles Zoo is often overlooked because of it's bigger neighbor to the South, the San Diego Zoo. Many people are surprised to find that the LA Zoo is such a nice place to visit. With over 950 animals and a lush tropical setting the zoo is defiantly worth putting on your LA to do list. A couple of tips to make your LA Zoo visit more enjoyable are to arrive early and take the Zoo tram up the hill to the back exhibits and work your way down the hill. There is more than enough things to keep you busy all day long however the LA Zoo can become quite crowded in the afternoon. Take the kids, have fun and start your LA Zoo adventure early.

An adult male rhino has died of suspected anthrax in a zoo here. “If it's a case of anthrax then it's something serious. So far it is not confirmed because some time is needed for the lab report to come for the analysis,” said Narayan Mahanto, Divisional Forest Officer, Assam State Zoo. He, however, added that since it's a dangerous bacterial infection “we are taking appropriate measures to check its outbreak.” The rhino has been buried at a safe depth within the zoo complex without any autopsy being conducted. Meanwhile, the zoo authorities have quarantined the remaining five one-horned rhinos, including two females in the zoo for anti-anthrax vaccination. “A rhino of the zoo has died of anthrax. It's a rare disease and before this incident it was in 1997 when anthrax occurred here. It infects nearby areas; therefore, to tackle it we have called a team of veterinary experts,” said State Forest Minister Rokibul Hu

Zoomars petting zoo is located just a few minutes form .Mission San Juan Capistrano. For more than 25 years Zoomars used to be Jones Mini-Farm. Admission was free and they charged you a dollar for food you could feed to the farm animals. The Jones Farm was a nice little trip you could take your kids on that was inexpensive and fun for them. In 2005 the Jones sold the farm to Carolyn and Omar Gonzalez who had plans to turn the farm into a 1800s country fair or carnival. Due to problems with the San Juan Capistrano planning commission the project has been scaled back to keeping the farm a petting zoo. They have adding some new attractions: train ride, pony rides and kids birthday parties and cleaned up the look of the place. The down side to all these improvements is now you have to pay for everything. Five dollars entrance, two dollar train rides, three dollar train rides, and don't forget the animal food. Operating the farm is not cheap so all the added costs are expected. All in all

Pandas, Pandas, Pandas!! This is all I've heard from my daughter Lauren for the past couple of weeks. A while back she was watching the Wonder Pets which featured a Panda rescue and this is when it all began.We're very lucky that we happen to live only about an hour and a half from one of the greatest zoos in America, if not the world. Zoo Tycoon 2 has a release date of early 2008 for Nintendo DS. The Microsoft title is coming via THQ and developer Altron. Animal lovers will be happy to know that the game isn’t a direct port, but has been enhanced to take advantage of the DS’ capabilities, just like 2005’s port of the first Zoo Tycoon, which sold over 500,000 copies on DS, convincing THQ that it could do well to release Microsoft’s sequel on Nintendo’s handheld. Zoo Tycoon 2 on DS offers both designer and director modes, as well as a new zookeeper mode, where animals can be tended to in a 3D environment. The game has a wide variety of animals from every continent, and the DS version will also be adding new animals and new environments to beef up the game some. About 5000 people have gathered at the late Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to hear the Dalai Lama talk about kindness to animals and the environment.
Monks at the 71-year-old exiled Tibetan spiritual leader’s Dharamsala monastery are friends with the Irwin family.
Terri Irwin and daughter Bindi today joined with the Dalai Lama at the talk, being held in the zoo’s ‘Crocoseum’.
The Dalai Lama will also use the visit to launch Kindness Week, a community project initiated by Queensland-based palliative care service Karuna Hospice Services.
This afternoon about 15,000 people are expected to fill the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to hear the Dalai Lama speak on the issues of compassion and kindness.
