The Wayne Fontes Experience
The Wayne Fontes Experience is a weblog featuring my uninformed, snarky, and completely biased blathering on Detroit sports. You may see the occasional pop culture rant and some lame attempts at humor, but mostly sports. I do ask readers to remember one thing..."In Detroit, you're with us, or we hate you."

Why Detroit sports talk radio blows: Reason #248
2007-11-20 20:55:00
For the past hour, 97.1 The Ticket (I still can't get over the originality of their mew name) WXYT has featued a somewhat heated discussion between show hosts Mike Valenti, Terry Foster, and Scott Anderson. I'm sure you're thinking, "That's not so bad."It is when the discussion involves Valenti trying to convince Anderson to drink with them at some half-assed event tomorrow night.I have to ask...WHO GIVES A SHIT?I don't, and I doubt you do either. Hey, I'm all for drinking, but I really don't care to hear what frat boy style antics these clowns are planning to do, especially during the amateur night the bars turn into on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Let alone talk about it for an entire HOUR.When it comes to drunken revelry on biggest bar night of the year, I've been there, done that, wrote the book, no longer feel the need...Rather than wait for a legitimate discussion, I decided to do my laundry. Watching the clothes go around and round is vastly more entertaining...

Above the Fold - Michigan at a crossroads
2007-11-20 19:04:00
I apologize for the lateness of today's link dump, as I was busy earlier this morning...It's official. Lloyd Carr retired as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. For only the 2nd time in many of our lives, Michigan will be conducting an all out, nationwide, coaching search. For fans of the Wolverines, this may be the scariest period ever as a fan, thanks to the nagging fear that's in the back of all our minds. That a bad hire could send Michigan into the sort of death spiral seen at other traditional power schools, as seen at Alabama, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. The last time you could consider the Wolverines mediocre was in the early to mid 60's, the Bump Elliot years. The vast majority of Michigan fans have no idea what it would be like if there was a long stretch of down seasons. It's happened to every other school you would consider elite. USC. Oklahoma. Texas. Miami. Penn State. Damn near everyone but Michigan. You youngsters have NEVER seen anything like an under .500 season fr ...

Why Detroit sports talk radio blows: Reason #578
2007-11-19 23:07:00
While listening to a discussion in regard to whom should be the next Michigan head coach on WDFN's Stoney and Wojo show, callers seriously suggested both Steve Mariucci and Terry Bowden. My head nearly exploded from the sheer pointlessness of it all. To Mike Stone's credit, he was absolutely incredulous. But it begs a couple of questions. Who lets these clueless loons on the air? Did the producer believe that such stupidity would make good radio? And it begs a third question... Why was I even listening?

Answering the Detroit Lions' NFL week 11 "Burning questions"
2007-11-19 20:50:00
It's the Monday after the latest Detroit Lions win debacle, which means that TWFE answers the burning questions asked by the News' Lions beat writer, Mike O'Hara.Today's hot hot hot topics include what's wrong with the Lions' offense, where's Waldo Calvin Johnson, the odd jump ball throw to Shaun McDonald, and Mike Martz, an offensive genius, or is he just full of himself?Burning questions from the Lions' 16-10 loss to the Giants at Ford Field Sunday:Q: What went wrong?O'Hara: The three biggest things were offense, offense and offense. Throw in a distant fourth -- special teams.Start with the first three. The offense is supposed to be the strength of the team, but it has been the weak link the last two weeks in losses to the Cardinals and the Giants. Special teams gave up three big returns and had a field goal blocked Sunday. The defense played well enough to win. But worst was how the offense fizzled.Big Al: Surprisingly, the defense has been decent. Not great, but good enough to win ...

Above the Fold - The God damn Lions
2007-11-19 17:54:00
I was torn as to what story I would feature in "Above the Fold" this morning. It was a toss up between the Lions bad loss to the Giants, or Lloyd Carr retiring. I think I'll touch more on Lloyd later today or tomorrow, as the Lions still have me stirred up.As I watched Sunday's Lions game, I became royally pissed off. As the game ended, I was infuriated. When I wrote my final thoughts few hours after the game, I was still angry. To be honest, I rarely get that bent out of shape over a sporting event, not even the the Chris Webber non-time out, the Kordell Stewart Hail Mary, or 'Sheed leaving Robert Horry wide open got me all that bent out of shape. At least not for hours afterward. Nothing gets me as anywhere near as pissed off as the Lions have managed to do over the years. Yesterday was just another on a long list of Lions games that made me stupid furious. As for the MSM and blogosphere, the reaction to the game ranged from shocked to accepting. At the Freep, Michael Rosenberg puts th ...

The same old Detroit Lions: Final thoughts on Lions - Giants
2007-11-19 01:59:00
First off, here's the linkage to the live blogging of today's atrocity...The biggest game of the season: 1st quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughtsWhich offense is worse? The Wolverines or Lions? - 2nd quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughtsIt's not looking good: 3rd quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughtsThat literally and figuratively sucked: 4th quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughts1. I find it funny when Lions players talk to the MSM, and come off as so perturbed when they tell the press that they don't understand why their fans continue to call them "The same old Lions." Well, Sunday's loss to the Giants is just the latest example as to the reason why. We've seen this sort of game over and over and over through the years. Come close, but never quite able to get over the hump. An innate inability to make a game changing play. Mistakes, penalties, blown coverages, dropped passes, bad QB play, you name it, we've seen it, then cursed it.Losse ...

That literally and figuratively sucked: 4th quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughts
2007-11-18 22:10:00
The Giants start the 4th with a short pass to Droughns, 2nd and 4 at the Lions 36. Christ, offside Lions, AGAIN. Giants 1st down at the Lions 31.It's Droughns up the gut, gets 6 more. The Lions need to make a play of some sort. They can't afford to give up another another score the way the offense is struggling.Moss is WIDE OPEN at the 10, another 1st down Giants. Droughns is stopped for a loss on 1st down, 2nd and 13.Eli Roth back to pass, pressured, rolls right, and throws it way. 3rd and 13. Lions need to hold them to a FG attempt. It's a pass to Shockey, and he's short of the goal line. 4th down at the 3. Giants will kick the easy FG.The chip shot is good, and the Giants have moved from being up 2 scores, to 2 TD's. 16-3, New York Football Giants lead. The Lions weak ass return team takes the kickoff to the 23. Is there less of a threat to run the ball back than Avieon Cason? I didn't think so.Kitna is back, it's a moonball to Williams...He jumps, and brings it down at the 50! Alrig ...

It's not looking good: 3rd quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughts
2007-11-18 21:25:00
Now fortified with a yummy Anchor Steam, I'm ready for the 3rd quarter. I hope Rod Marinelli has kicked some locker room ass, and has the Lions fortified and ready for the 2nd half...Moose tells us this is the best he's seen the Giants play all season. Let's not talk about the awfulness of the Lions...The Leo's will kick, and it's the 1st we've seen of Jason Hanson today, which is quite telling as to how the game has gone. Hanson out and out booms the kickoff, touchback! Goose says Marinelli told him "We need to tackle better." No fucking shit, Sherlock...Burress drops a sure 1st down pass on 1st down, so we're off to a good start. A 2nd down pass to Shockey misfires as well. Manning was being chased by Big Baby, but Rogers was knocked down, and out of the game by another Lion. Figures.Yes! Burress can't handle a 3rd down pass from Eli Whitney, they will punt. Walters with the fair catch at the 31.Come on, offense! DO SOMETHING!Kitna rolls right, throws on the run DEEP for Williams, b ...

Which offense is worse? The Wolverines or Lions? - 2nd quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughts
2007-11-18 20:35:00
As FOX comes back from commercial, we see a pile of humanity on top of Kitna, as FOX missed the snap, and then sack. On 3rd down and 19, it's a near pick on an incomplete pass to Williams.SHITSHITSHIT McQuarters breaks the punt return, thanks to sloppy coverage, and the Giants will start at the Lions 38. Fuck...Yes! Jacobs is stuffed for a 2 yard loss, and the Giants are called for holding to boot! 1st and 20 from the 48. Make a God damn play, defense! Which they don't as Manning gets 13 on an out pass.2nd and 7, Jacobs busts through a Lions D-back attempted tackle in the backfield, gets 3.Another 3rd and short. Lions threaten to blitz...FUCK. Complete for a 1st...BALLLLL! Moss is stripped by Kenoy Kennedy, fumbles, mass of humanity ensues, LIONS RECOVER! Hells yes! The Lions D gets ANOTHER turnover. They have been amazing in that category this season.FOX comes back from commercial just in time to see Kitna hits Sean McHugh in the flat, takes it 18 yards to the 39!SCREEN! Well, you co ...

The biggest game of the season: 1st quarter Lions - New York Football Giants thoughts
2007-11-18 19:39:00
After taking a birthday hiatus from my Detroit Lions blogging, I'm back for another Sunday of Detroit Lions uber-blogging.We are watching live from TWFE HQ, the 6-3 Detroit Lions vs the 6-3 New York Football Giants. The winner gets essentially a 2 game lead over other the for the NFC wild card, so today's matchup has huge playoff ramifications. (Never thought I'd be saying that 10 weeks ago...)It's the most important game (Excluding the Super Bowl) in the short history of Ford Field. It's easily the Lions' most important since the Christmas Eve 2000 game against the Bears. That was a win or go home, do or die game which resulted in a heartbreaking last play loss (You go to Hell and you die, Paul Edinger! And take Stoney Case with you!), the firing of Gary Moeller, and ultimately ushered in the Matt Millen era.We can only hope this Lions' matchup ends with a much better result...We join FOX's broadcast team of Marv Albert's mongoloid looking brother Kenny, Moose Johnson, and the sidelin ...

It's time, Lloyd
2007-11-18 04:12:00
I was going to make a smart ass remark about the sweater vest owning Lloyd Carr, or post a fail lolcat picture. I thought I'd say something snarky about Michigan feebly losing to tOSU, 14-3.But I couldn't do it. I don't like ripping on college players, and I really couldn't get any righteous indignation stirred up within myself over another Carr loss to Jim Tressel."Checkmate, Tressel. You got me. I'm done, you win."I didn't get all that upset, as I honestly expected the Wolverines to lose. When Michigan took the field led by a one armed QB, a one legged tailback, and a tired head coach with one foot out the door, it was easy to see this result coming. It was going to take a herculean effort to beat the Buckeyes, and the Wolverines just didn't have it in them.I won't say that Michigan went through the motions, but they were definitely missing a spark. The defense played decently, but it wasn't as if Ohio State needed to do do any more than run the ball, and run clock, as the Michigan ...

I have found the anti-Chris McCosky
2007-11-17 07:16:00
It's Bruce MacLeod of The Macomb Daily. In a post at his "Red Wings Corner" blog titled "Blogs are fine by me," the Red Wings beat writer admits he has a daily habit of reading (And very much enjoying) blogs. He also calls out members of the media who fear and don't understand blogs, the blog culture, and the people who write them.MacLeod specifically takes umbrage with Chris McCosky (Without naming him), by referencing the Joel Zumaya shoulder injury controversy that pitted the Detroit bloggers vs. the MSM...I also think that there's been a lot of discussion about bloggers without clear definition. Blogs are not forums. Some of the comments by trained journalists are obviously made about forum posts -- comments left by readers of blogs -- but read as though they're comments made about blogs. Wild speculation and banter about stuff like what happened to Joel Zumaya's arm often appear in forum posts -- often anonymous -- are rarely in blogs. To hang bloggers for forum posts is like hang ...

I think it's safe to say The Gambler is coming back to Detroit
2007-11-17 00:18:00
Why, you ask? News regarding Kenny Rogers, and his status as a client of Scott Boras, just hit the wire...In an unexpected twist to the offseason saga surrounding both free agent pitcher Kenny Rogers and agent Scott Boras, Rogers informed Major League teams on Friday afternoon that he has dismissed Boras and is now representing himself in contract negotiations, multiple baseball sources confirmed Friday afternoon.Sure sounds as if Rogers wasn't happy as to how uber-agent Boras was handling his free agency. When you combine this news with the email Rogers sent to MLB.com, which stated his 1st choice was to play in the D..."I would prefer not to discuss negotiations publicly," Rogers wrote. "I will say that I still hope to be in a Tiger uniform in 2008. Thanks for your understanding and patience during this process." ..It's not hard to put 2+2 together.Rogers wants to put an end to all the games, and get a deal done with the Tigers. Eliminating Boras allows him to do just that...When you ...

Detroit Lions week 10 power ranking roundup
2007-11-16 21:23:00
Not a good week in the for the Honolulu blue and silver, but their awful effort in Arizona didn't effect them in the power rankings all that much. They rank as high as 6 (Scout.com), and as low as 22 (Football Outsiders/AOL). Overall, the Lions average ranking dropped nearly a full 2 points, from 9.5 last week, to 11.3.As last week's hot topic was the easy to bring up Jon Kitna and the 10 win prediction, this week's topic du jour was also the obvious one, the -18 yards rushing. As I said last week, football writers are quite the unimaginative bunch.Let's see how a many different ways the NFL writers can make fun of the Lions running game...SI: 12 - Dr. Z, showing his advanced age, tells us a story. A story about the 1943 Detroit Lions, who couldn't run the ball either...If you think their minus-18 yards rushing was anywhere near an NFL record, forget it. The mark came back in 1943, when sack yardage counted as yards lost rushing, and on the afternoon of Oct. 17, these same Lions rushe ...

2007-11-16 18:08:00
As someone who was lucky enough to come of age during the "10 Year War," forming my allegiance to the Wolverines and the Big 10 in general, along with a sense of utter disgust towards the Buckeyes, tomorrow is one of the biggest days of the year.A little more than 24 hours from now, Michigan with take on Ohio State in the latest edition of the greatest rivalry in sports. Though tomorrow's matchup will not mean as much as it has in the past in regard to the national title picture (Admittedly, tOSU is still in the hunt to make the BCS title game as a long shot), it's still THE GAME. It'll always be THE GAME. In the Midwest, it's the only game that matters. Thus, as you might expect, the MSM and Michigan blogosphere is atwitter with excitement...At the Freep, the Little Fella, unable to control his overwhelming urge to drip his writing with an unbearable amount of sentiment, writes a love letter to Bo Schembechler. Answering the Detroit Tigers' "Burning questions" - First week of free agency edition
2007-11-16 04:13:00
After being pelted from all angles, by all types of media, with Barry Bonds vs. the Feds, it seemed like a good time to answer another set of Tigers burning questions! That the News's Lynn Henning posted another Q&A today made it that much easier...Today's topics include the Tigers' offseason grades to this point, Edgar Renteria, Jair Jurrjens, The Gambler, Scott Boras, and Joel Zumaya's shoulder. Henning has questions and answers, while I just have answers. Let's compare, shall we?Burning questions after the Tigers kept up with the Joneses in trading for Jacque and signing Todd during a busy Hot Stove weekQ: How would you grade the Tigers' big three offseason acquisitions to date -- Edgar Renteria, Jacque Jones and Todd Jones -- in terms of roster value and price?Henning: A solid B, maybe a B-plus. Signing Todd Jones was essential to a bullpen that remains tender because of Joel Zumaya's extended and uncertain recovery. The trade for Jacque Jones was safe and inexpensive because o ...

Rob Parker is insane
2007-11-15 19:56:00
In today's News, the "Worst columnist in America" takes a look at what the Tigers need to add in free agency. The functionally retarded one, Rob Parker, thinks the Tigers need to add //GASP// a starting pitcher. Well, no shit, Parker.Unfortunately, reading the column is an exercise in sheer stupidity. It literally left me slack-jawed. The insanity follows...The following moronic paragraph is "Parkerizing" at it's ugliest and most blatant, cherry picking specific stats to inflate his FLAWED beyond belief column. Here are three who are interesting and possibly could help Detroit: Kris Benson, Shawn Chacon, Brett Tomko.Benson was 11-12 with a 4.82 ERA with the Orioles. In 2005 with the Mets, he was 10-8 with a 4.13 ERA. Chacon was 5-4 with a 3.94 ERA with the Pirates. But with the Yankees two years ago, he was 7-2 with a 2.85 ERA in 12 starts. Tomko is a bigger gamble. He was 4-12 last season between the Dodgers and Padres. A few years ago, however, he won 11 games. You're kidding, right? N ...

Above the Fold - Mashup edition
2007-11-15 18:15:00
Today's "Above the Fold" is more of a mashup, so to speak. There's a ton going on in Detroit sports, but not one local story is truly standing out to allow for my normal style of link dump. So I'll touch base as to what the Detroit MSM and bloggers are saying about sports talk radio, the Lions and religion, Marinelli's temper, the Wolverines' Mike Hart, shooting down Pistons rumormongering, slumping Czech goaltenders, and a saber's look at baseball run production. As a follow up to the big changes that went down last week at sports talk radio WDFN, with the unceremonious dumping of their long running morning show, the News' Joanne Gertsner speaks with the parties involved, and notes even more changes in the M-F lineup. Personally, I was sad to hear that the clueless suits at Cheap Channel put the kibosh on the Jamie & Brady Show FOX 2 webcast...The trio took their show, with Clear Channel's permission, to FOX 2 last Monday, for a Web-cast version. By all accounts, the show transla ...

Kobe Bryant to the Pistons: Much ado about nothing
2007-11-14 23:24:00
That Kobe Bryant was been closer to becoming a Piston than anyone thought is the latest rumor flying around that series of tubes called the internets. Peter Vescey, the Perez Hilton of sportswriters, wrote that the Pistons could offer what the Lakers needed in return from a Bryant trade, and contracts could be made to match up.Then the 4 Letter's own NBA rumormonger, Ric Bucher, said even more in a chat...Q: The Kobe trade talk are down to a whisper, but not completely silent is it?A: No, it's not. Pistons GM Joe Dumars took offense that there was speculation that the Pistons might get into the Kobe sweepstakes. Well, multiple sources say the Pistons actually took a stab trying to get Kobe and were rebuffed because that's not one of the places Kobe would like to go.Supposedly, the deal was Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Amir Johnson, and a pick. The sportstalk dips on WXYT have being going on endlessly about the trade that didn't happen for well over an hour. That it was a done deal, b ...

Why is O.J. Simpson on my TV?

Above the Fold - Keeping up with the Jones'
2007-11-14 17:49:00
Now that we've had a couple of days to ponder the Detroit Tigers binging on players named Jones, I thought I'd be a good time to tally up what the lying, untrained, no-nothing (According to Chris McCosky) Tigers bloggers thought of the Todd and Jacque Jones acquisitions. Let's take a walk back in time through my RSS reader...At Bless you Boys, Ian, in his inimitable way, thinks the Jacque Jones trade leaves us with more questions, than answers...Was getting a serviceable left fielder for a player who may not have even been on next season's roster a good move? Or does Jones's salary and production concern you? And what about Dave Dombrowski making two major off-season moves before baseball's winter meetings? Might he have jumped a bit too soon or is it better perhaps to go into those meetings totally focused on getting some bullpen help?As for The Rollercoaster, Ian is more bullish, calling Todd Jones and the Tigers "A perfect match."But with top-shelf closers like Francisco Cordero ...

Breaking news: NFL head coaches can be pricks
2007-11-13 21:00:00
Rod Marinelli does not suffer fools gladly. Even if that "Fool" is just doing his job on a radio show that is basically shilling for the Detroit Lions.During Marinelli's weekly interview on 97.1 FM's Lions Report Monday night (Which I surprisingly happened to hear, as I don't make it a habit to listen to what is normally Lions puffery), Dan Miller asked several questions regarding the failure that was the Lions' offensive gameplan against the Cardinals.Marinelli did his normal sidestepping of the questions, answering in generalities. When Miller wouldn't stop his questioning the gameplan, as Marinelli was talking in circles, the Sarge went into his drill sergeant mode. He told Miller, in so many words, words dripping with condescension and disdain, that track of questioning was a waste of his time. For the remainder of the interview Marinelli was as uncooperative as he could be, giving short, curt, pissy answers, making Miller's job as difficult as possible. My existence, while grotesqu ...

Above the Fold - Lloyd Carr has one foot out of the door at Schembechler Hall
2007-11-13 17:50:00
The news hit the series of tubes called the internets, and specifically the Michigan blogosphere, like a right cross from a young and still semi-lucid Mike Tyson. The go-to blog for anything and everything Michigan Wolverine related, the MGoBlog, had a jaw dropping scoop...Three separate sources indicate that Carr has made his decision to retire official and people around the athletic department are being told. The formal announcement will come after the Ohio State game, possibly at the Monday press conference, possibly a day or two later.Normally, I'd take such a blog post with a grain of salt. But Brian of the MGoBlog has proven that he does have connections deep inside the Michigan athletic department. He has posted inside information that has proved to be correct in the past. Jones, Jones, everywhere a Jones
2007-11-13 02:31:00
After the news earlier today that the Tigers had acquired Jacque Jones, they must have felt that more Jones' were needed on the roster. Thus, the announcement late this afternoon that Todd Jones signed a 1 year, $7 million deal to return as the Tigers closer. This news was not surprising, as the shoulder injury to Joel Zumaya made the re-signing of The Rollercoaster a near necessity. That's despite the fact that we Tigers fans love to bitch, bitch, then bitch even more about Todd Jones. That he's a smoke and mirrors closer, he can't enter games with runners on base, he is over-dependent upon his defense, and he's a blown save waiting to happen. The thing is, you can't bitch about Todd Jones' effectiveness in getting 3 9th inning outs to close out a win, even if you have your hands over your eyes the entire time.I want YOU to have a 9th inning coronary!Jones' 115 saves (75 of those with Detroit) over the past 3 seasons will end any argument against his being the Tigers closer for another ...

Your Detroit Tigers left fielder in 2008 is...Jacque Jones?
2007-11-12 21:37:00
The Tigers long search for a left hand hitting corner outfielder finally came to an end this afternoon. Detroit acquired outfielder Jacque Jones from the Chicago Cubs for little used utility man Omar Infante.Much like TBHoS, I'm sure Cubs fans are glad happy thrilled Jones is gone, as his 2007 was nothing to write home about. Tigers fans are OK with Jones as the left handed part of a left field platoon with either Marcus Thames and/or Ryan Raburn. There is concern over Jones' perceived role, after reading what Jon Paul Morosi writes in the Freep after talking to the Marlboro Man. (Bold is my emphasis)Jones, a left-handed hitter, will likely become Detroit’s primary leftfielder, although the right-handed Marcus Thames will earn some starts there, as well."I’ll play that by ear," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said during a telephone interview Monday afternoon, when asked if he envisioned a platoon between Jones and Thames. "We face so many right-handers that Jacque is going to play a lo ...

I know that I rarely venture out of sports into other realms, but this You Tube clip is too good not to share. This is a live 1973 performance by Detroit's own Stevie Wonder, at the height of his considerable powers, singing "Superstition." If this doesn't get you moving, you're dead inside...Even more interesting that this appearance is from "Sesame Street." Yes, from "Sesame Street."Shows how times have changed in an era of political correctness, you think? And I'm not talking about the day-go clothing, spectacular as it may be... I found this quite disturbing picture in my email this morning, courtesy of one of the Detroit Tigers blogging hoi polloi, Mike McClary of The Daily Fungo, and The Detroit Tigers Podcast.Shouldn't Jay Leno make some sort of very lame joke about this headline?Mike lives in Arizona, so the headline is from the game preview of Sunday's Arizona Republic. (Also note that the Republic picked the Cardinals to win...)He was as stunned as the rest of us would be to see the Detroit Lions, of all teams, to be considered a "Model" for any team to emulate. To be honest, I find it quite telling, that as fans we find a headline that actually flatters the Lions to be odd, strange, and flabbergasting, than a sign of encouragment.

Answering the Detroit Lions' NFL week 10 "Burning questions"
2007-11-12 18:40:00
It's the Monday after a Lions game, so you know what that means. Yes, I know, more bitching and moaning about a lost opportunity. But I was actually talking about more burning questions! In today's Detroit News, Lions beat writer Mike O'Hara dissects the loss to the Cardinals in a Q&A with himself.Topics covered include the Lions inability to handle success, Mike Martz and his total abandonment of the ground game, and just where the Lions stand in the playoff picture.Let's dissect the dissection, shall we?Burning questions from the Lions' 31-21 loss to Arizona Cardinals on Sunday:Q: Did the loss teach coach Rod Marinelli anything about the Lions?O'Hara: Yes. He needs to learn that there's still a weakness in the team's psychological core. It doesn't react well to success, or when it gets out of its routine.Big Al: I don't think it's as much about routine, than it is about their inability to handle success. For a team that hasn't been relevant for 6 seasons, and that's being genero ...
