Iggles Sign QB Casey Hansen
2008-05-07 09:30:22
It looks like the Birds found themselves a developmental QB prospect. Casey Hansen signed a 3 year contract yesterday. Now this article says Hansen will have a shot to compete for a job, but in reality unless somebody gets hurt or traded the QB situation is pretty much set in Philadelphia.
Donovan McNabb is obviously not [...] ...

Rookie WR DeSean Jackson is one of the cover athletes for the video game NCAA 2009.
If you didn’t know this is the college version of EA Sports very popular game Madden Football. This year they actually have multiple cover athletes, and DeSean is on the PS2 cover.
As far as I know there is no NCAA cover curse. [...] ...

Save Dave!
2008-05-06 23:47:17
The Cincinnati Bungles have decided to threaten our sister site Stripe Hype with a law suit. Apparently the Bungles loser organization does not like that Stripe Hype was promoting their product with images of some players wearing the Bungles jersey and logos.
Dave, the lead blogger at Stripe Hype, is now contemplating quiting, and may even [...] ...

New Numbers Given Out
2008-05-02 20:58:05
The new Eagles now have new numbers. Here are all the drafted rookies except Andy Studebaker. NFLShop could not fit his name on the jersey. Studebaker will wear number 53. Bryan Smith and Mike Gibson both are wearing number 63 for now. If they both make the team obviously one of them will change their [...] ...

No Bowman Afterall?
2008-05-02 00:34:50
I reported this morning that the Eagles had signed Adarius Bowman, but the report may be false. I got back home about an hour ago, checked PE.com(Eagles official site), and I see no mention of Bowman. I then see a comment by mike(thanks) that says Bowman did not sign. Pro Football Trash is saying that Adarius [...] ...

Josh Buchanan, of NFLDraftBible.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted rookie free-agent WR Adarius Bowman (Oklahoma State) Wednesday, April 30. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Adarius Bowman was considered a possible 3rd round pick just a few months ago, but [...] ...

Briere Leads Flyers Past Canadiens 3-2
2008-05-01 06:54:05
The Flyers once again blew a two goal lead, but Daniel Briere was the hero, as he scored the game winning goal. Briere has been awesome in the playoffs, and looks like he was the best free agent signing by far.
The Flyers are not as talented and have been outplayed by Montreal, but they are coming [...] ...

Flyers Beat Canadiens Despite Terrible Penalty
2008-04-29 20:59:09
The refs make an awful call on Darrien Hatcher. That was a normal hit by Hatcher, but because Boullion end up getting hurt, the refs decide to blow the whistle.  They refs kept the whistles in their pockets most of the game, but of course they decide to make that brutal call. Not only was this a [...] ...

TO Can’t Feed His Family Again
2008-04-29 20:02:04
T.O. has still not payed the Eagles the $770,000 he owes them. Terrible Owens lost his arbitration hearing in January, and was told to pay the Eagles the money he owed them.
Since then the Eagles have not seen 1 dime from Owens, and that can only mean one thing. Terrell is having rough times again.
Everybody [...] ...

Eagles Select King Dunlap With The 230th Pick
2008-04-29 09:06:56
King Dunlap is a LT from Auburn who was once considered a top prospect. He had a really bad year in 2007 mainly due to a left elbow injury he suffered early in the year. The poor season combined with some minor off the field troubles had Dunlap free fall in the draft to the 7th [...] ...
|
Eagles Select Andy Studebaker With The 203rd Pick
2008-04-29 08:07:44
Andy Studebaker is an undersized defensive end, who may convert to linebacker in the NFL.
He reminds me a lot of current Eagle Chris Gocong, and I think they may have him develop into a SAM linebacker to backup Gocong.
Like Gocong, Studebaker played at a small school, and racked up sacks. He is a high energy [...] ...

Eagles Draft Joe Mays With The 200th Pick
2008-04-29 05:58:19
Joe Mays is a short stocky MLB who is known for his very physical play on the football field. Mays played at a small school, North Dakota State, but he dominated the competition there.
He is a big hitter, can shed blocks well, and despite average speed he is a tackling machine. On the Eagles will get a shot [...] ...
|
Eagles Select Mike Gibson With The 184th Pick
2008-04-29 03:53:08
The Iggles added more offensive line depth with the pick of offensive lineman Mike Gibson from Cal. Gibson started at LT for the Golden Bears, but may be better off as a guard in the NFL. Gibson is a very physical run blocker who will add valuable depth to the offensive line.
I think it is [...] ...
|
Eagles Select Jack Ikegwuonu With The 131st Pick
2008-04-28 13:19:54
Jack Ikegwuonu is a first round talent who unfortunately for him tore his ACL prior to the combine. After this devastating injury some felt that Ikegwuonu might go undrafted, but the Eagles saw enough talent in him to take a chance in the 4th.
That was the Eagles first compensatory pick(unable to trade) and I think [...] ...

The Eagles Pick Quintin Demps With The 117th Pick
2008-04-28 10:23:23
This was the extra pick the Eagles got for trading down with the Vikings, and they used it very wisely in my opinion.
Quintin Demps is a free safety from UTEP who has a great understanding of the game. He is not the fastest guy, but he is very smart, and is able to cover his [...] ...

DeSean Jackson Scouting Report
2008-04-28 09:52:18
This is a quick scouting report from an ESPN “draft expert” Todd McShay before the draft on new Eagle WR DeSean Jackson. He really rips into Jackson when he says he will be a productive number 2 WR at best. McShay, like many others seem to have doubts about Jackson, because of his size.
I guess everybody has [...] ...

Eagles Take Mike McGlynn With The 109th Pick
2008-04-28 03:17:35
The Eagles passed on Jeff Otah with their 19th pick, and let the Carolina Panthers trade back up into the first round and take him. Then with the extra 4th round pick the Birds got from Carolina, they chose the other Pittsburgh OT Mike McGlynn.
McGlynn is a versatile guy who played RT for Pitt for 3 [...] ...
|
Eagles Select Bryan Smith With The 80th Pick
2008-04-27 22:53:10
Bryan Smith is an undersized defensive end from McNeese State who many feel will have to move to OLB in the NFL. The Eagles do love undersized defensive ends, and it will be interesting to see where they wind up playing him. To me he seems like another small speed defensive end, who can stand [...] ...

Eagles Take DeSean Jackson With The 49th Pick
2008-04-27 03:05:58
I was not a fan of taking Cal WR DeSean Jackson with the 19th pick, but the Eagles were able to land him well into the second round. Jackson is a very crisp route runner, and has blazing fast speed(runs a sub 4.3 40). He has a great ability to create deep separation, and make big plays [...] ...
|
Eagles Select Trevor Laws With The 47th Pick
2008-04-27 02:38:32
I love this pick. The Eagles do have a big need at DT. The starters are very good, but they have nothing after Patterson, and Bunkley. Trevor Laws from Notre Dame has decent size and moves pretty well. He reminds me of Mike Patterson with a little more bulk. Laws was unstoppable force at the Senior Bowl, and should [...] ...

Eagles Trade Down Again
2008-04-27 01:32:30
UPDATE! Eagles Gain 4th In Trade With Vikings.
The Eagles traded the 43d pick they acquired from the Panthers, dealt that and a fifth-round choice (152 overall) to the Minnesota Vikings. In return, the Eagles received the Vikings’ second pick, 47th overall, and an additional fourth-round pick, the 117th selection.
The Eagles traded the 43rd pick overall to [...] ...

Eagles Trade For Lorenzo booker
2008-04-27 00:22:41
The Eagles just acquired RB and return specialist Lorenzo Booker for a 4th round pick(114). Booker was a third round pick of the Miami Dolphins just last year, but did not get much playing time as a rookie.
Booker is basically your typical scat back type. He is very quick, agile, and a great receiver. At [...] ...
