Chowrasia wins Indian Masters
2008-02-11 01:33:27
SSP Chowrasia finally banished the gremlins and stunned a star-studded field to walk away with the Indian Masters title as the Delhi Golf Club witnessed a new star on Sunday.Son of a greenkeeper at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, SSP -- monikered 'Chipputtsia' for his magical short game -- signed off with a blemish-free final round of 67 and his aggregate of 279 was enough to make him only the third Indian -- after Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh -- with an European Tour title against his name. Thus, an Indian went on to win what was the first European tour event in the country."This is definitely the biggest title of my career. I did not have any inkling before the tournament that the title would be mine," said the beaming golfer."As I played the last three-four holes, I knew I had the title in my grasp and all I needed was to stay calm, which I did."Now that I have won it, I would play both in Asia and Europe before attaining my ultimate goal to play in the USPGA Tour," he said.Chowra ...

Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Day 3 Wrap
2008-02-10 04:27:45
Defending champion Phil Mickelson bemoaned a woeful putting display after missing the third-round cut by six shots at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Saturday. Mickelson's title bid fell apart when he ran up a sextuple-bogey 11 on the par-five 14th at Pebble Beach Golf Links but he said the real damage was done by his total of 33 putts. "That was probably the biggest score I can remember (on one hole) but that's not what really cost me the day or the tournament," the world number two told reporters after carding a six-over-par 78. "It was missing all those putts because had I had anything go in today, I wouldn't have had to try to force something there at the end. "I never felt good on the greens and I don't know what the deal is. They were rolling the best that I've ever seen them." Mickelson hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation and putted for birdie 16 times. However, the only birdie putt he made was from inside two feet at the par-four fourth. ...

Golf News: Indian Masters Day 3 Wrap
2008-02-10 04:25:46
Frenchman Rafael Jacquelin held a one-stroke lead over Ireland's Damien McGrane, Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell and Spain's Jose Manuel Lara heading into the final round of the Indian Masters.BMW Asian Open champion Jacquelin, who missed the cut in Dubai last week, scored a level-par, third-round 72 on a blustery day to remain at six under par at the Delhi Golf Club. He got lucky over the closing holes, once rebounding out of the trees into the middle of the fairway - how nice it is to see an old-fashioned tree-lined course for a change; Tiger Woods's two-iron would certainly have been in the bag - and once stopping just short of out of bounds. The top four are not exactly career winners. Jacquelin won for only the second time last year, McGrane has never won, Lara captured his first title last year and McDowell has not triumphed since 2004.Overnight leader McGrane (75) slipped back into a tie for second after windy conditions disrupted the game plan which had helped him to a two-st ...

Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Day 2 Wrap
2008-02-09 04:18:28
Tim Herron, affectionately nicknamed "Lumpy" due to his physical stature, posted a three-under 69 on Friday to grab the second-round lead of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He finished at seven-under 137 and is one clear of several players. Play rotates over Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills over the first three rounds before playing at famed Pebble Beach in the final round. The cut comes after the third round. J.B. Holmes, the playoff winner last week at the FBR Open, carded a two-under 70 on Friday and is tied for second place with Robert Floyd (70), Michael Allen (70) and Nicholas Thompson (69). That group finished at six-under-par 138. Defending champion and three-time winner Phil Mickelson, who lost the extra session to Holmes last week, only managed an even-par 72 at Spyglass Hill on Friday. He is tied for 53rd place at minus-one. Mickelson will have a lot of work to do if he is to catch Herron. Herron play ...

Personal loan for golfing equipment
2008-02-09 04:15:32
When I bought my first golf cart and clubs I actually used a personal loan. While I am not really into borrowing mountains of money a personal loan can be a great way to get what you want with a set payment that you can budget for. They can also be a viable alternative if you get into financial trouble, but always talk with a professional first! A Personal Loan can be used for almost anything you can think of and can be secured or unsecured, which simply means you can secure your loan with some form of collateral (like your property) to secure the loan. The benefits of this is that you will generally pay a lower interest rate. Unsecured loans do not require collateral, but the interest rates are often higher. You can read more about secured and unsecured loans here.Personalloans.com.au is a great site for all your personal loan needs. It is really well designed and it is a snap to navigate to the appropriate section. They have some really good little articles about all sorts of differe ...

Golf News: Indian Masters Day 2 Wrap
2008-02-09 03:54:53
Northern Ireland's Damien McGrane stroked a majestic 69 to take a two shot lead at the Indian Masters on Friday, as Ernie Els made amends for his disastrous opening round to scrape through the cut. Another Irishman Graeme McDowell, who finished fifth behind Tiger Woods in Dubai on Sunday, shares second place with South Africa's Hendrik Buhrmann and Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin at six under for the tournament on 138. But on a cold and grey Delhi day first round leader Jyoti Randhawa lost the plot, firing a five-over-par 77 to be six behind McGrane. Former Ryder Cup star Thomas Bjorn remains in the hunt at four under while US veteran Mark O'Meara is on the fringes of the leaderboard after a 73 left him six strokes adrift. World number four Els, who was rattled by a nine on Thursday, looked to be heading for an early plane home after bogeying the first but he rallied with an eagle at the eighth and a birdie on the 14th. And he fared much better on the par-5 18th that undid him in roun ...

Jobs in Australia (maybe even golf jobs)
2008-02-09 03:51:28
As many of you already know I work in Australia, but this probably is because I am an Australian. Even though I am a little biased Australia is a great country with a skills shortage at the moment so there are many high paying jobs available for those that are willing to work. At jobs.com.au you can find some great information about many of the available Jobs in Australia with links to places you can search for a job in Australia. The website is crisp and clean with a great design and layout (I am a little jealous!) . You will find everything from executive jobs to a comprehensive list of salary calculators. The website is really informative and would be worth visiting if you are looking for a job in Australia.

Golf News: Indian Masters Day 1 Wrap
2008-02-08 01:56:11
Ernie Els shot a horror quadruple bogey to lag 10 behind leader Jyoti Randhawa at the inaugural Indian Masters on Thursday, with the local star eagling the last for a two shot lead. Irishman Damien McGrane played two rounds with Tiger Woods at the Dubai Desert Classic last week and the world number one's magic clearly rubbed off as he fired a 67 to lie second, alongside Englishman Richard Finch. Rejuvenated Dane Thomas Bjorn, Delhi resident Shiv Kapur, and Spain's Jose Mauel Lara lurk one further back at the 2.5 million dollars event, while US veteran Mark O'Meara rolled back the years with a 69. Randhawa, who posted four top-10 finishes on the European Tour last year, used his local knowledge to good effect, putting together three birdies and two eagles. But fellow Indian Jeev Milkha Singh, seen as a favourite to win, succumbed to the pressure with a poor 77. Randhawa has won on the Lodhi course five times before and he thought back to those victories to tailor his game. "My pas ...

Be careful on those golf carts
2008-02-06 00:19:11
This is another strange golfing related story I thought I would share:Police say a Glastonbury woman is on life support after falling off a golf cart after leaving a Super Bowl party in Florida. A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach Country Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Audrey Hanrahan apparently lost her balance when she stood up to wipe something off the windshield. She fell and suffered severe head injuries. The spokeswoman says the accident happened in Wellington, Fla., as Hanrahan was leaving a restaurant with Christine and Jonathan McCrea of Wellington. Christine McCrea was driving. The spokeswoman says the sheriff’s office is investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved.AAP

Electric Shavers
2008-02-06 00:14:31
I know it sounds vain, but before I walk onto the golf course for a club championship I like to be clean shaven and look my best. Maybe I think that I can intimidate my playing partners or something :-) Seriously though I don't feel quite right in the morning until I have used one of my electric shavers. If you are trying to decide between one of the many electric shavers out there it is a good idea to take a look at consumer reviews of the available shavers. The website Wize is designed with the customer in mind. It lists literally thousands of products in all different categories and customers can rate their purchases. This means that anyone can visit the wize website and find out what other people are saying about a product, whether it is good or a complete lemon that you should avoid. Each product is also given a "wizerank," which is made up from expert and consumer reviews and is a score out of 100 that works like this:90-100 Buy with confidence75-89 Might meet your needs50-74 Proc ...

Exotic golfing destinations
2008-02-05 07:00:22
I often think about taking a golfing holiday in an exotic location. I have played on a few courses you might term exotic, but that may just have been because of the rare and endangered weed growing on the green. The mind wanders to places like Fiji, Hawaii, Caribbean, South Africa, New Zealand (and the US for me) as well as many other great golfing destinations. Some of the courses in these locations have simply spectacular scenery and wildlife and there are always plenty of other things to do besides golf. However, even places like Hong Kong have some great golf courses and with flights to Hong Kong becoming so affordable these days an exotic golfing adventure is not that far out of reach.

Warm up stretches for golf (video: golf erercises)
2008-02-05 01:24:42
Warming up for golf is very important, but unlike the tour pros most club golfers don't have 40 minutes or more to warm up. I am no expert so I have found a great video from Ramsay McMaster that will show you a fantastic 5 minute warm up. Ramsay has trained the likes of Arron Baddeley, Henrik Stenson and Geoff Ogilvy and really knows what he is talking about. If you can get to the course 10 mintes early and perform these exercises I believe that you will be able to knock a few shots off your early hole scores.

Window Ads
2008-02-05 01:09:19
When I first saw this today I just had to post it. Technology is advancing all the time and this means that advertising can utilize these advances to create completely new dynamic methods of getting your product noticed. The technology is from Window Gain and with this new technology you can display high definition live advertising material on a window from a projector (or two). You can display anything you like including High definition videos and still pictures, flash animation and even RSS feeds! The results are truly spectacular and can be seen even during the brightest sunlight. In modern society most people are ad blind (they can notice a static ad subconsciously and tune out), but with this unique form of advertising it will attract people to your product/business. It really is the perfect form of outdoor advertising and I would imagine that it will be quite popular in the future. If you are looking for this kind of unique advertising I would recommend you check out their websit ...

Domain Registration
2008-02-05 00:38:39
Lately I have been talking a fair bit about domain registration and hosting for my new projects that I am undertaking. Finding a domain name registrar isn't hard, but finding a quality company is slightly more difficult. Being an Aussie I have been looking for a good Australian domain registration website that also allows me to register US domains and I really think I have found it. Pay less domains offer everything a webmaster could need including the initial domain name registration, domain transfers and renewals and they even cater for you hosting needs with quality web hosting packages. You don't have to be from Australia either as they offer domain name registration from all over the world! Their website has a really modern crisp design and the navigation is a breeze. Their pricing is also quite reasonable and is probably one of the cheapest places to register an Aussie domain name. If you are looking for a quality domain name register then I would recommend a visit to their websi ...

FBR Open - Holmes wins in a playoff
2008-02-04 01:31:34
American JB Holmes had back-to-back birdies on the same hole just 30 minutes apart to edge Phil Mickelson in a playoff and capture his second FBR Open title in three years.Holmes birdied the 18th hole to force a playoff then defeated Mickelson with by draining a seven-foot putt on the first hole of the playoff.Holmes also won this event in 2006. Asked to compare the two wins he said this one really tested his determination."It is a little different," said Holmes, who shot a 71 Sunday to finish at 14-under 270. "I won the first time here and then everybody questioned why I couldn't win again."This one is more redemption to prove everyone was wrong."Holmes watched his seven-foot putt sail straight in then stepped forward and punched his right fist in the air.He sank a 10-foot birdie putt on 18 in regulation to pull even with Mickelson who started the day four shots adrift of Holmes. My ThoughtsA really great win that many people wont even have seen because of an overlap with the superbowl ...

Tiger Woods wins the Dubai Desert Classic
2008-02-04 01:28:27
Tiger Woods birdied his last two holes Sunday to rally from a four-shot deficit and win the Dubai Desert Classic, starting his season with two victories that looked nothing alike. One week after winning the Buick Invitational by eight shots, Woods had to birdie five of his last seven holes for a 7-under 65, then wait to see if Ernie Els could catch him.Needing a birdie on the par-5 18th to force a playoff, Els hit his tee shot into the water and made bogey."To go 2-for-2, it's a pretty good start, isn't it?" Woods said. This is the third time he has started a season with two straight victories, and it was another sign that the world's No. 1 player could be headed for a big year. Woods now has won his last four official tournaments, and six of his last seven dating to the Bridgestone Invitational in early August. He also won his unofficial Target World Challenge by seven shots in December.Woods birdied his last two holes for a 14-under 274 and a one-shot victory over Martin Kaymer of Germa ...

Karrie Webb Wins her fourth Australian Open
2008-02-03 11:25:22
Australia's Karrie Webb has won the Women's Australian Open at the second hole of a sudden death playoff from Korea's Ji-Yai Shin. The win is Webb's fourth in her national championship, and her second in as many years. After beginning the final round locked together, the pair swapped position throughout the day before Shin took a two shot lead when she birdied the par four 15th.Playing ahead of Webb, Shinn safely negotiated the final three holes, arriving at the clubhouse in 67 shots, six-under par.Webb duly birdied the 16th, a straightforward par four. But with two of the toughest holes on the course ahead of her, Webb appeared to have little chance of pegging the Korean back. She then showed her class by holing out from three metres at the par three 17th to level the score.Webb stepped onto the par four 18th, a hole she had bogeyed in the second and third rounds, and played it perfectly in par to force the playoff.A near identical effort at the first playoff hole - again the 18th - was m ...

Massage Chairs: Caring for your back (golf tip)
2008-02-03 11:18:44
There is nothing more important for a golfer than caring for your body - especially your back. You can have the best clubs money can buy, but if your back gives out then you cannot even play the game. Just ask Greg Norman who's well documented back problems led to his downfall. Purchasing a well designed massage chair can really help in this area. Human Touch have a great range of Massage Chairs that have been designed to replicate a human massage and are simply a joy to use after a round of golf. Their website is well designed, easy to use and if you are looking for a massage chair then I recommend a visit to their website.

Furniture for the golf lover (or anyone else really)
2008-02-03 11:01:59
When I am staying with family I often sleep on a sofa bed and I am not a fan of them at all. Once I played a round of golf after sleeping on a particularly bad one and my back seized up terribly after 3 holes! When choosing a sofa make sure you get a really good quality one. It is equally important to have very good kid bedroom furniture as children need very good support for their growing bodies - and if they are going to support Mum and Dad playing on the PGA tour they really need a strong back!Furniture from home have some of the highest quality furniture (including the dreaded sofa beds) I have ever seen. Their website is really well designed and a pleasure to use. Their range is enormous and if you are on the lookout for quality furniture I recommend giving their website a visit!

Dubai Desert Classic Round 3 Wrap
2008-02-03 03:45:35
Tiger Woods hopes of a fifth consecutive tournament win nosedived here on Saturday when Ernie Els swept by him to take the lead after three rounds of the Dubai Desert Classic. Woods ended his run of 21 straight sub-par rounds dating back five months with a lacklustre one-over 73. Els, looking for a record fourth win in Dubai, equalled the best round of the tournament to date with a seven-under 65 sparked by an eagle-three at the 10th. The big South African, who lost to Woods in a playoff here two years ago had started the day trailing the American by four strokes, By the end of it he led him by four and was in pole position for Sunday's climax. "All in all it was a round I really needed," said Els who was 11-under for the tournament. "I probably needed two 64s to have half a chance in the tournament, and as it turned out, a 65 today and probably I need a low one tomorrow. "I can't see Henrik (Stenson) with Tiger and the other guys not shooting low." Woods said he had left himsel ...

FBR Open Round 1 Wrap
2008-02-02 10:54:03
Darkness forced an early finish to the second round of the USPGA Phoenix Open in Scottsdale. JB Holmes and Doug LaBelle II shared the clubhouse lead, both ending their rounds tied on nine under par 133. Colombia's Camilio Villegas, whose first round was affected by a frost delay on Thursday and finished it early on Friday before beginning his second round, was also at nine-under par. He shot a first round 66 and was four-under through 12 holes on his second, which he will have to complete on Saturday along with a number of other players. Pat Perez and O'Hern shot 65s and were one behind the leaders at eight under. Charles Howell III, Appleby, Briny Baird and Allenby were seven under. Holmes, whose only PGA Tour title came here in 2006, fired a six under-par 65 while LaBelle, who had to qualify for the tournament, was one shot better in front of a large crowd. "The greens are pretty good and soft and the winds not so strong. It is there for the taking if you can do it on the fairw ...

Dubai Desert Classic Round 1 Wrap
2008-02-01 04:46:58
Tiger Woods took up at the Dubai Desert Classic on Thursday where he left off at the Buick Invitational in California on Sunday with a commanding display of golf to top the leaderboard. The world No.1 was out early in the first round of the 2.5million dollars European PGA Tour event and he did not disappoint the large gallery following him by birdieing his first hole. It could have been even better had his greenside chip for an eagle on the par-5 10th not stopped an inch from the cup. He added six more birdies for an ominous opening seven-under 65 over the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club and that was good enough for an early two-stroke clubhouse lead. The 32-year-old Woods came into Dubai hot on the heels of a commanding eight-stroke win at his season-opener, the Buick Invitational, at Torrey Pines, California on Sunday. That was his fourth consecutive tournament win stretching back to the tail end of last year and it came wrapped around an uncustomary 10-week winter break for ...

Has Tiger already won the 2008 US Open?
2008-01-30 05:09:19
Well according to some reports today everyone else might as well not turn up this year. There is no doubt that he plays the course well and is in a very rich vein of form, but golf can be a funny game at times. Here is one of the news stories I am talking about:Tiger Woods's comfort factor at Torrey Pines, where he won a record sixth Buick Invitational on Sunday, will have sent a collective shudder down the spines of his rivals for this year's US Open. The second major of the season will be staged from June 12-15 on the scenic South Course at Torrey Pines, a coastal layout Woods has played countless times since his youth. As if that was not enough to inspire fear into any would-be Tiger hunter, the American world number one says he is now playing the best golf of his life. His eight-stroke victory romp at the weekend earned him his 62nd PGA Tour title, and his 16th in just 32 starts since the beginning of 2006. The benchmark for Woods was previously his golden run of form in 2000 wh ...

I personally enjoy sites with a bit of video and photo and it always helps to have some latest news and unique content or information that I like to read. Today I came across Sportsgist and I must say I am impressed with what I have found.Their website is made so that athletes have a place to connect with other athletes. They also are focused on college recruiting, including college recruiting video, which I understand is a very competitive market in the US. Once you become a member you can upload your photos and videos, get tips and tools for college recruiting, start your very own blog, connect with friends, upload your stats and they even have an area when family and fans can get the inside scoop. They also offer high school sports live, which is a really great bonus for anyone that likes watching high ...

Tiger wins Buick Invitational and 62nd Tournament
2008-01-28 08:32:04
I love this photo - congratulations again Tiger (what a start to the year!)Tiger Woods shrugged off three consecutive bogeys while cruising to an eight-shot victory at the Buick Invitational on Sunday for his 62nd PGA Tour title. Eight shots in front overnight, the world No.1 holed two monster birdie putts on his way to a one-under-par 71 in increasingly windy conditions on the South Course at Torrey Pines. Woods piled up five birdies and four bogeys for a 19-under total of 269 to record a fourth successive triumph at the coastal venue and his sixth overall. Japan's Ryuji Imada closed with a 67 to finish a distant second at 11 under, two ahead of South Africa's Rory Sabbatini (67) and American Stewart Cink (73). John Senden (72) and Stuart Appleby (73) were the leading Australians, finishing in a tie for eighth on five-under, a massive 14 shots behind Woods. Adam Scott Wins Qatar Masters
2008-01-28 08:29:09
Bringing this news makes me very happy - and on Australia Day Weekend too!!I had always thought that when Adam Scott finally broke his tournament drought it was going to be a sparkling performance and it didn't disappoint. It was one of the most amazing final rounds I have ever witnessed. His putting has always been a slight week point, but not today. He made five successive birdies in the first five holes he never looked back.Stay tuned - I will post the full final days play news here when I have it.Edit: I finally found the reportAustralia's Adam Scott produced a record final round of 11-under-par 61 to win the Qatar Masters by three strokes on Sunday. The 27-year-old Scott started the day tied for fifth place but came out firing to stun his rivals with a total of 20-under 268 and finish ahead of Sweden's Henrik Stenson. "This is my lowest ever score but the thought of a course record was never on my mind," said Scott, who became the first player to take the title for a second ...
