The restored Kelso Depot is now the visitor center for the Mojave National Preserve. This once busy train station housed the Kelso Clubhouse & Restaurant which served passenger trains and the nearby Kaiser’s Vulcan mine. The Kelso Depot's function as a train stop ended in 1962, although the restaurant and boarding rooms were still in use. Finally in 1985 the building was closed completely.
