AT&T has confirmed that a 3G version of the Apple iPhone will be hitting stores in 2008, but with no set month for release as of yet."You'll have it next year," said CEO Randall Stephenson. Stephenson could not elaborate on how fast the new device would be but it will be faster than the current HSPA network, which can theoretically run at speeds up to 3.6Mbps. When asked about the price, Stephenson said that Apple CEO Steve Jobs "will dictate what the price of the phone is."In the past, Jobs has announced that 3G was "highly sought-after" but that the iPhone would not have it included until the battery life was not as severely affected. "So as you know, the handset battery life used to be 5-6 hours for GSM," Jobs explained. "but when we got to 3G they got cut in half. Most 3G phones have battery lives of 2-3 hours [of talk time]." Security-Assessment.com security consultant Nick Breese has presented a new report to the Kiwicon hacker conference in which he claims the Sony PlayStation 3, with its powerful Cell processors, can be a great asset to hackers.He claims that the console can crack passwords at speeds 300 times faster than Intel hardware can.Speed is the most important factor in "brute force" password cracking, and Breese says the PS3 helps cut down speed considerably."Suddenly we have a massive increase in terms of . . . cryptography cracking," he said. Earlier today, Nintendo revealed that they have sold more Wii systems in the last two weeks than in any week since the systems initial launch last November.Nintendo has reportedly sold over 350,000 Wii systems last week, during the Thanksgiving holiday, whereas they moved over 300,000 the week prior. The last time sales were this high in a two week time frame was when the system launched and sold over 600,000 units in its first eight days of release."I couldn't find a single Wii system on the shelves - literally as I was walking into a Wal-Mart at 11 a.m., someone was walking out with the last one," stated Fils-Aime.
