2008-03-04 03:03:59
Rocketmen: AoE this Wed, new screenshots tooFiled under: News, Xbox Live ArcadeWe just received official word from Microsoft that Rocketmen: Axis of Evil will be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, March 5th for 800 Microsoft points. And yes, we know we pretty much confirmed this week's release last week when Capcom sent us an early word. But we figured we'd remind you and because we have new Rocketmen screenshots as well. New screenshots showing off some of the gameplay, cel-shaded cut scenes and (gasp) the character selection screen. Oh, and guess what? They're in the gallery below. Resident Evil Zero direct-feed shots shamble our way - SendMeRSS

Resident Evil Zero direct-feed shots shamble our wayFiled under: Screens You may have already glimpsed Grain-O-Vision versions of these Resident Evil Zero shots in that Famitsu scan we posted last week, but Dengeki just posted direct-feed screens. Given our love of all things Resident Evil (we were besotted long before the series went from being "very good" to "jaw-dropping"), we figured a revisit was worthwhile.Sure enough, these screens just reminded us how pretty pre-Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil games were: all baroque mansions and genetically modified beasties. Japan's Virtual Console outlook for March: Joyful, LustrousFiled under: Virtual Console, ImportsNintendo has updated their Virtual Console page with the planned releases for March. The list contains 10 titles, meaning that we should expect two or three a week. Oh, well. There are some very cool releases this month, including a Japan-only Famicom fighting game from Nintendo (!) called Joy Mech Fight. Other high-profile games include the first Metroid, which will be the Famicom Disk System version and therefore feature even better music, and Fantasy Zone, the second promised Sega Master System games. We're personally excited about the inclusion of Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun, not because it's a good game, but because it's a Virtually Overlooked game. We win again.Famicom: Metroid Star Luster Joy Mecha Fight Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun City Connection Sega Master System: Fantasy Zone Super Famicom: Super Gussun Oyoyo PC Engine: Psycho Chaser Bom ...

Guns don't kill people, terrible peripherals do - SendMeRSS

Guns don't kill people, terrible peripherals doFiled under: Peripherals, Controller Even with its folding clutch and laser sight (requires 2 x AAA batteries, not included), the WiiMAX isn't impressing anyone. Actually, those two selling points only add on to our suspicions that this light gun was assembled out of whatever plastic bits were available in the factory. That front grip? Leftover umbrella handles. The attachable scope? Grabbed from a surplus of toilet paper holders. Is there even a purpose for that folding handle? How are you supposed to pull the Wii remote's trigger if you're holding onto the grip? And whose idea was it to price this crapcessory at $21.17? Bring a roll of TP past the break for more photos of the WiiMAX. Is that Wii on the box's top-right corner giving us a thumbs up? Why, yes, it is![Via Technabob]Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments Ads by Google Link - Comments - Eric Caoili - Mon, 03 Mar 2008 1 ...

Valve gives us Team Fortress 2 update specifics - SendMeRSS
2008-03-04 00:22:47
Valve gives us Team Fortress 2 update specificsFiled under: NewsYesterday, we mentioned that a new Team Fortress 2 title update was released via Xbox Live but that we were in the dark pertaining to any of the specifics. We went as far as to call out Valve on their lack of information support surrounding the Orange Box for consoles. But today, we eat our words. Valve developer Kerry hopped onto the Xbox.com forums to inform the masses about the TF2 update and tell us exactly what it fixes. We've posted Kerry's complete list of changes after the break as we're sure our fellow TF2 exploiters are ever so curious to know which exploits in their vast exploit arsenal are no longer effective. Anyway, check out the update list as we go on to officially retract out "evil Valve" comment that we made yesterday. We acknowledge that our name calling was a bit much, but we still stand behind our request at having some sort of Valve supported news hub for getting Orange Box updates. We still cool ...

Shipping this week: Army of Bully editionFiled under: Shipping this weekThe Xbox 360 plays host to three new games this week. We're not quite sure which one tops the list honestly. Army of Two is probably the most talked about recently. Given its rocky development cycle and the fact that there aren't any major reviews up yet, we're remaining cautious. Bully: Scholarship Edition also releases this week, marking the first time that Microsoft console owners will get a chance to try it out (now with achievements!). And then there's Major League Baseball 2K8, about which we haven't the foggiest. Anyone out there longing to pick up one of these this week? GRAW2 Co-op Collection 2 gets fully revealedFiled under: News, Xbox Live MarketplaceThe achievements didn't lie, because today TeamXbox exclusively revealed yet another piece of GRAW2 downloadable content called Co-op Collection 2.Just like the Co-op Collection before it, this second set of DLC will feature five new missions (Bridges, Stronghold, Depot, Riverbed and Ghost Town), nine new adversarial maps (Bridges, Stronghold, Depot, Riverbed, Ghost Town, Roadblock, Island, Treatment Plant and Mining Camp) as well as eight additional achievements worth 125 Gamerscore. TeamXbox posted a pretty solid video preview of the Co-op Collection 2 which also tells us that the DLC can be downloaded right now off the XBLM. But after doing a quick XBLM look, no Co-op Collection 2 could be found. So, we'll just say release date and pricing are "pending". Fans might remember Dark Sector as one of the first next-generation titles to ever be showcased way back in April 2004. After a massive shift from their original space-opera vision, developer Digital Extremes has transformed Dark Sector into a more mainstream action-shooter. Harmonix earns $208.7 million Rock Band bonusFiled under: NewsHere's a guaranteed plan to get rich. First, create a video game company, focus your development efforts towards pioneering the music genre, then get bought out by a larger company and make a hugely successful game. Then, when said hugely successful game gets recognized by the corporate big guys, cash out on your performance bonus package that was outlined in your buyout terms. The result: $208.7 million in bonus cash. And that's exactly what Harmonix got paid by Viacom (MTV Games' parent company) as part of their performance bonus all because Rock Band is super successful. It almost makes us inspired enough to want to follow Harmonix's footsteps but instead pioneer the grocery shopping genre. That would be equally successful, right? Amazon Japan sells 20GB PS3 for twice price of 40GBFiled under: Sony PlayStation 3 The discontinuation of the PS2-playing 20 and 60 GB models of the PS3 have made them quite the hot item in Japan, so much so that Amazon Japan is currently selling 20 GB systems for ¥63,800 ($617), around ¥30,000 more than the 40GB system. 60 GB consoles are the priciest of all, currently selling for ¥74,800 ($723). Hobby shops there are also apparently jacking up buyback prices, according to this blog (beware of NSFW ads). Are we headed for a similar fate here in the states? No. Or at least, not immediately. Ninja Jaiden all set to rocket off its Gore-tastic sequel - SendMeRSS

Fearobsession: Ninja Gaiden was easily one of the best games for the original Xbox, so the sequel has been long awaited and long anticipated. The game producer, Tomonobu Itagaki, announced at Microsoft’s GDC keynote that the bloody ninja action sequel â€" The Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword Of Chaos - would be under the limelight this June; as a confirmed North American June 3 release date for the Xbox 360 exclusive, and ‘early June’ for the rest of the globe. After showing off a new, never before seen level from Ninja Gaiden II, Itagaki and his translator announced the date, as well as a new feature. At the Game Developer’s Conference (2008) many new features have been confirmed. The lunar and tonfas are two new confirmed weapons, along with the bow. Also exhibited were the appearances of new weapons such as a scythe and a pair of three-bladed claws and bladed shoes on Ryu Hayabusa’s person. The innovative fun to play Nintendo wii on top - SendMeRSS
2008-03-03 15:57:34
Jayprashanth: Though many had written off Nintendo’s Wii before it’s release in mid November 2006, when it had to compete with the simultaneously launched Sony PS3 and the early bird Microsoft’s xbox 360, it is Nintendo, thats having the last laugh while its gaming console Wii outsells the PS3 4 to 1. Now lets forget about Microsoft’s xbox 360 which is nowhere near the PS3, not to mention the market leader Wii. Nintendo’s Wii sold 331627 units as compared to 89131 units of Sony’s ps3 in the four weeks leading to Feb 24th this year. So what is driving the considerably cheaper Wii, at $249 in comparison to the PS3 starting at $499, to take top honours in the ultra competitive console gaming segment. First of all, while the PS3 was targeted only the hard core console gamers, the Wii ventured off the beaten path and created a whole new set of casual gamers with its innovative fun to play titles like ‘Super Smash Bros Brawl’ and Wii f ...

Other bands are in Aerosmith's Guitar Hero game, maybe Run DMCFiled under: Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360 Logic would dictate that if you're buying a game called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, the disc would be chock full of fail Aerosmith songs. But an ad from a Best Buy circular sent to us by an eagle-eyed reader and a recent USA Today story hint that Steven Tyler and Co. may not be the only ones populating the disc.As you can sort of see, the ad promises Aerosmith and "all their favorite bands." And this article from USA Today says that the game will feature "opening acts." It usually takes a major investment maximize your professions and get the goods that you want. In most cases I prefer to wait until I've reached the level cap to start professions. There are two exceptions to this. Whenever I roll a character on a server that's new to me, I invest in skinning and mining and sell the materials for gold for my mount and equipment. I used to level fishing too. Until Blizzard added the aggressive mobs on the shore of Dustwallow Marsh, I would swim past the Mirefin Mur ...

Netflix gets even Blu-erFiled under: Blu-ray With the online movie rental service Netflix going exclusively Blu-ray, it was only a matter of time before the company announced that it was boosting their library volume for Blu-ray titles. Currently, Netflix has 400 titles in their catalog, but it plans to triple this and increase the number of titles to 1,500.While this sounds like great support for Blu-ray, the cost of such a large scale move may cause Netflix to increase their fees. It shouldn't hit too hard on the wallet though, and besides, an upgrade from DVD to Blu-ray HD is well worth it.
