Second Life: Fraudulent Cash Could Bankrupt The Unwary A recent warning issued to players of Second Life brings word that fraudulent money transfers will be removed from player accounts along with a 50% additional charge. The problem with this is that anyone can send any amount of money to anyone else at any time. As a result, if a player wishes harm on another, they need only send an unsolicited amount of fake currency to the other and Linden will not only freeze the recipient's account for the duration of an investigation, they will also take an exorbitant amount of cash as restitution. Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Stalking Via Xbox Live According to a local news agency, Spokane Police recently arrested a 20-year-old New York man who allegedly traveled cross-country to stalk and harass a 15-year-old girl he met while playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live. Joshua Stetar had allegedly been sending flowers and gifts to the girl's home, along with thousands of text messages, before deciding the best course of action would be to drive 40 hours to Spokane to see the girl in person. Police say that on arrival, Stetar began driving by the young girl's home, while sending text messages detailing his obsessive activities. Taser Death Parody Video Outrages Canada A recent Mega Man ROM hack video recreating the death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski has outraged Canadian officials. Mr. Dziekanski was recently held by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the Vancouver, BC airport where he was tasered and eventually died. The video, entitled Mega Man vs Polish Immigrant, depicts Mega Man running through a Vancouver, BC-themed airport level before zapping a sprite of former-end-boss Dr. Wily made up to resemble Mr. Dziekanski. Unsurprisingly, the video has created quite a bit of controversy. Officials from the Canadian Polish Congress have condemned the video as "disrespectful to the victim, his family and the Polish community." Best Buy fears Wii mob scenesReceiving a number of Wiis just in time for Christmas is a real joy and, at the same time, a real problem for retailers across the country, as the people are so desperate for the Nintendo machine, that you don’t know what they’ll do.   So I guess I can understand why some Best Buy shops avoid displaying or announcing their newly received Nintendo Wiis. Dave Wolf, General Manager at a Best Buy near Baltimore, said that he chose not to display any Wii in the shop, in stead employees walk around and tell people they have them in stock. SimCity Societies patch with strategic mode released and game modded for the HolidaysWith the new SimCity Societies patch players will get a new Strategic mode, in which they’ll need to approach the game much more slowly and deliberately. This SimCity Societies patch is out now. Meant for the “hardcore” players, Strategic Mode comes in three, progressively more demanding flavors: Basic, Hardcore, and Nightmare. Each of these is unlockable; players must win the Jack-of-all-Trades trophy and at least one other trophy at their current level to ratchet up the challenge. Basic is just slightly tougher than the original game, while Nightmare is really brutal. All three difficulties emphasize a more strategic approach to decision making, rather than the free-form, “sandbox” style of the original.
